Is VBulletin the 'king' of forum software?

i hate vBulletin. i think Xenforo forums is the best. They got good script

vBulletin used to be the best and one of the most used a couple years ago. Most forum owners used vBulletin because that was one of the only forum softwares when forums came around. It's the most expensive, yes, but I don't think it has any potential now.

I dislike vBulletin boards, I think there is better board software's out there like phpBB or myBB.

I am personally not a fan of vBulletin and they have lost a lot of popularity when Xenforo was released and people seem to be moving other to other forum softwares.

It used to be... back when vBulletin 3 was somewhat new. XenForo and IPB have surpassed it now though.

I still love vBulletin. XenForo has grown on me, though it's annoying that you have to add an add on for the littlest things that should be default. :shake:

They haven't been the king for some time. The new management (Internet Brands) wanted to "socialize" vBulletin and add social media stuff, but the biggest sticker was that Kier wanted to rewrite vBulletin from scratch for version 4.0 but management disagreed with that.

4.0 was where I think they lost their crown. They botched the release and also forced administrators to pay for the next version when switching. 5.0 was barely usable and somehow they decided to call it "gold."

Once you get over the fact that a lot of great add ons cost money, then Xenforo is the best forum software available today. It's not bloaded and it doesn't lag during high traffic days.

It used to hold this 'title' a while back but now Xenforo is taking over and more and more forum owners are switching to this software.

Versions right up to 4.0 were fine but their reputation went downhill with the release of 4.0 and onwards, in my opinion.

It's a shame though, I really did like vB for a brief period.

absolutely not, It seems to me that all the paid software are the crappy ones.
