When is the last time you have run malwarebytes.?

If you do run it let me know if you got a malware called - adware.Elex.ShrtCln

I haven't run it for years because I've found Microsoft's built in security to be pretty robust.

I do know however that the Elex.ShrtCln trojan is quite hard to remove. If you have it these instructions should remove it but the steps involved are not for the faint hearted.

Likewise, it's been a long, long time for me.

Tell be about it, I gone with every step that I can find and removed just about all things - It still COMES BACK

All I been doing for 24 hours is going round in cycles

Are you getting it from a specific site? You aren't using the Chrome browser are you? Perhaps a browser extension is letting it in?

Taken some time to find out what it is, but now that I know it doesn't help me know that what I have done still comes back, It's an adware that infects your browsers and the related sync data. Once you log into your Edge or Chrome account, the adware will be loaded from the server into your local profile.

So it's up there in the CLoud, does matter how many times I remove it from the PC, it comes back

I have not used Malwarebytes for years even though I really should do so frequently.

If you Google anything you find it should give you information on what it is and how to remove it.

Then don't log into Edge or Chrome? 😀

Haven't used it in years. Been using Webroot (made by carbonite backup people).

working on it, seems that it attacked edge and chrome and since 2017 the malware has got a better brain and still keep getting it back
Hope you can get it sorted out.

I use Manjaro. It works. XD
Oooo, lovely! Mankato is a fun distro! I love distro hopping on my laptop, right now it's Linux Mint, but Pop_OS is great, too. Arch is awesome, but tricky at times.

I wouldn't mind switching, but I rely on Elgato's software so I'm stuck with Windows until they decide to support it. If they ever do...
IIRC you can run it natively on Ubuntu-based distros and Pop_OS is an Ubuntu-based distro, so you should be able to get it running.

They don't provide linux packages, unless .exes work? And it wouldn't work fully unless it could directly integrate with the OS level.

I believe there are guides to getting it running, natively, in Ubuntu
