Attention To All US & UK Citizens.
I thought I quickly ask here to get A quick answer.

What is the legal adult age in the US & UK Some say 21 and others say 18.

In australia is 18 i'm turning that in about 4 months.

Thanks.

Ok Thanks Thought it was 21 in the US and Uk.

Was curious because in A few years after studying with more experience thinking about moving to Japan or the US for A Business (Computer) I might start or atleast short term there like A few months.

Would anyone know Japan 🙂

It's 21. All the legalities of insurance and legal guardianship of your parents is relieved at 21.

State laws are confusing, I'm glad in England is applies to all the counties.

Here in Tennessee, you are a legal adult at 18. You can't legally drink alcohol until you're 21 though.

I think it depends on the situation. To drink you have to be 18 and for almost everything else you have to be 21. Apart from sex where your 16.

Very comfusing:

16 you can get A licence can get Part time job
17: Your treated like A adult with law efforcment can leave school and get full time after principal approval.

in Australia
18: You get everything including drinking and your parents are no longer in charge of you.

And it state has its own rules for selling goods.

US has fun differentiations when it comes to everything.

Just as an example, in New Jersey (where I grew up)

At 15: Can engage in insurance contracts.
At 16: Can obtain a learner's permit for driving. Also, age of consent (deemed capable of consenting to engage in sex)
At 17: Can obtain a probationary license (no driving from 11:00 pm to 5:00 am and can only have 1 non-family member in car with you)
At 18: Legal adult age. Can also obtain basic driver's license. Can also engage in contracts.
At 19: Can purchase tobacco-related items
At 21: Can purchase/consume alcohol
At 25: Not a legal bound, but the traditional age rental companies will allow you to rent a car (some will rent to younger than 25 but it comes at a higher cost and they typically won't let you rent a sports car).

How so? Because a parent's employer allows them the option to keep their child on their insurance plan until they are 21 or 25? Legal guardianship ends at age 18 when the child becomes a legal adult (unless their child is disabled or something).

You are considered an adult at age "18". I think Kino, those legalities have to be relieved at that age. But the governments typically recognize everyone as adult versus minor at age 18.

Yeah but here in Nebraska you are classified as an Adult at the age of 19 sadly.

Yeah, adulthood starts normally at the age of 18, legally. Where I work, you have to be 19 to be hired because we sign legal contracts everyday, day in and day out. However, insurance and school fincial aid is based on the age of 25, where both lower to new requirements.

Yeah, that makes sense.

You're legally responsible in the US at 18. I'm not sure what it is in other places however.

It honestly is 21, when you are 21 you get everything an adult would. When you are 18 you still have prohibited features that just don't come until you are 21.

You can gamble and drink at 21. I wouldn't call those features 😛 when you turn 18 you can sign contracts, work full time, quit school, live on your own, smoke, drive, everything except drink and gamble. It is also the correct answer as you are legally an adult in the US at age 18 according to law.
