Re: My coach is a jerk

Thanks for the clarification. I feel a bit slow now, I didn't cop that one on at all 🙂

Re: My coach is a jerk

Your coach just looks out for you and will make you a better player. I love my coaches for doing things like that.

Re: My coach is a jerk

reminds me of my coach from back in the day 😛

Changed the name of the title so hes not a "jerk" anymore.

If ya'll would seriously quit because the coach is doing his job, then you shouldn't be on the team in the first place.
The coach is teaching an important lesson that doesn't even have to relate to sports.
Sometimes what you expect is not what you get and sometimes you get crap, and a broken promise.
Furthermore, this mental challenge will only prepare you for the future.

That's a bit harsh Citricsquid. A coach who gives his time freely to coach a football or other sports team is doing the players a favour, not the other way round.

He should have just been honest Fergal... There team shouldn't need that kind of manipulation to get them to exercise. The reward should've been doing well in an upcoming match, the coach should have just said that.

Trust me, that doesn't work. I'm a coach myself and we have to use all the tricks in the book..

I've never had a coach do that to me... But if that's how you're forced to motivate your team then that's up to you....

My coaches didn't really trick us - but telling people they're done and then making them go run some more is a common tactic. You see it in sports, in the military, and pretty much everywhere.
And I think it's a good tactic - you weed out the suckers and end with a team/group of people that are truly the best for their positions.
