I've seen hosting plans for 3.50$ and less. And domains cost 11$ a year at most. If you care about your site you should just go and mow some lawns, seriously. I'm a poor student with no income bar what my parents choose to give me, yet I get by.
Ultimately if you show that you are willing so sacrifice some money to run your site then it shows that you take it seriously. I know that some people on free hosts do take their projects seriously - but they are submerged in a pit of others who set their forums up and leave within a month. Also, most administrators on free host forums that do care about their communities go on paid hosting as soon as they get a chance.
I can completely understand your situation. Not everybody has money to spend on a website or something like that no matter how little it costs. Many young people (18-25) live paycheck to paycheck and have no healthcare, since they may still be in college or have just graduated.Ashley said:DarkRaven said:Honestly though Ashley, I understand if you are unemployed but if you have any income at all (yes including pocket money!) you should be able to pay 4-5$ a month in hosting. You know, I am employed, but that money goes to more important things. I can't shell out 20 bucks a month like some people can. I'm still living at home, and I'm on a shared computer. We are struggling with financing right now, so otherwise I probably would consider hosting. I'm thankful to even have a forum at the moment. Yes, I do care about my site, but I don't really like advanced hosting anyway, because I have no knowledge of Cpanel or anything.
Well I'm dead honest to say the least.Santa said:I dont see how you can say most of you havent looked down on a new forum when you do, posting it here doesnt make you a better person...

The only way to avoid something like this is to get a specialized degree that is in high demand, such as pharmaceuticals.
