Members increasing their post counts.

One of my forum members has made 203,018 posts.

Now I've posted that it's brought to mind a rather awful song from the 90's although it sounds like it should have died at some point during the 80's.

WARNING - once heard, like many similar songs, it cannot be unheard!!!

You read it right the first time, that's the post count from one member.
He has no life at all ;P I mean I thought that I was going to try my best to be the highest and whatnot, that's just crazy as flip. He's making 500 a day 😛 Or just a member that joins since the very start of when the site became live 😛

Not quite that bad 🙂

I think that member's post count averages out at around 37 posts a day which is still somewhat on the excessive side especially if you take account of the post quality which is generally very high.

Back when I ran Another Admin Forum, me and another user would basically compete for post counts LOL. Now we both posted a lot daily but it was good content. However, I think we overwhelmed everyone else so it probably wasn't the best choice.

Nowadays, I'm old and just don't have it in me to post like that haha, especially if I've not had my 48-cups of coffee 😛

He can join my site if he wanted too and do the same again ;P

I've never understood wanting to limit posts per day. I've seen mods for MyBB that can impose limits on people per day for posting and I will never understand what the point is. Imagine seeing something you want to reply to only to discover you've got to wait like the forum you're on is some mobile game with a lives system because you hit your daily limit already? I'd be out in a heartbeat if I discovered a forum I was on had such a feature.

As for increasing counts, so long as members aren't just spamming for the sake of increasing numbers and are still making decent posts, make as many as you want. I have no idea why I would ever want to stop such a thing. XD

I cannot allow spamming, but I can allow unlimited posting s long s they are quality cntent. I also cannot allow online liners.

more good posts mean more people can join in away

How do you feel about members who aim to increase their post counts?

Even if they are producing quality content, will you allow them to freely increase as they wish?

I ask because I've seen some communities that are strict about how much you can post a day.

As long as they stay on topic and have something worthwhile to add to discussions, it doesn't bother me in the slightest. And as long as they following the rules.

I honestly don't care most of the time, as I would rather have someone contribute as frequent as they are able, over requiring a cap on the amount because of potential low quality. The only time I would look into someone's posting behavior, is when the user has a previous issue with drawing attention to things that shouldn't matter, or if they just reply quickly after they had just posted something, with nothing that shows that the reply was needed. I then might look into the person to see if it might be an issue.
