Does your forum have a minimum age?

Is there a minimum age for your staff?

I know off an admin on one forum whom is only 12. I believe this is because the owner is a relation of his.

there is no 'minimum age'. I hate those title seriously. It depends on their maturity

Any age. BUT you wouldn't give the position to a six year old. At least 12 as they are almost a teenager.

Why would a 6 year old want the position, heck it couldnt even type, what a stupid statement.

Ha. They can text. My mates brother that's 6 can text. They could end up typing too.

But still, most average 6 year olds would not really be this into the internet at that age.

i've been using computers alot sense i was six. age cannot decide who is technologically impaired, mature or anything other than their age. but i think it would be ridiculous to have an age limit for a forum position

Don't get me wrong, I know there are very smart children out there, I just said average children at age 6 are mostly outside and videogames.

Age has nothing to do with it. Within a week or so, I plan to mod a long time member, and he's only 13. For his age, he is very mature and fun to be around.

However, I will say, under normal circumstances, I wouldn't staff someone so young..I'd much more prefer someone with some previous staff history.

That said, I do have an age requirement for Admins on my forum. Have to be 18 or older. Reason being, I don't want some kid with that kind of power.

My main concern would be a person's ability to do the job. Age doesn't come into it for me and I never ask anyone their age when considering them for a staff position, it's just not a factor.

However Fergal, what if some legal conflict arises? Who is legally responsible?

I think age does matter, and especially when you know that they and yourself must uphold some legal jurisdiction.

So you'd give an Admin job on FP to a 13 year old?

I have to agree with most of the people here. It has nothing to do with age, but it has to do with maturity. For example, would you like a forum owned by an incredibly mature 6 year old or an immature 23 year old?

I'd go with neither.

I'm 17, and have two admins who are younger than I am (Both are 15). They're mature enough that they haven't done anything strange, and I can trust them to look over my site without doing anything wrong. Like others have said, it's not the age, but the maturity that really matters in the end.

I haven't stop to think about it, but I would hesitate, not because of trust issues but because they are highly dependant of their parents and their school grades, but it would depend in the individual, age would be just one factor to consider and I doubt it would be crucial.
