OK, so my forum has just started, 0 members, switched hosts, good content.

But, I need to post more... How will posting loads of threads by one person (me, the admin), get members?

See my site.... and see what I mean.

Well, who else is going to make those threads? Nobody is going to randomly sign up on a brand new forum and create content for you, unless you pay them to do it.

Try following this:

1) Create quality topics on your forum.

2) Do some post exchanges / buy forum posts with your FP.

3) Rinse and repeat.

I would say post exchanges would be a good idea to start with
Ask here for someone to do these exchanges viewforum.php?f=47

Say you do 5 for 5 or if you can active for active I hope this helps

Another Idea do you know some one who can help with posting on your forum

I should say most new forum tend to have most topics done by the admin

Yes, But are you sure that empty boards work for post exchange?

Susan I did that and now I not far off 4000 posts and not even be open 2 months I am still doing active for active exchanges with people who like my sort of forum

This guy seems epic win. I've thought of doing that, but never did it.

In all reality until I got a bunch of real members, that's what I did. One of the fake members went to college, another got a full time job, and the other just disappeared.

People like joining a forum that has an active administrator.

So, if they see you posting, chances are they'll be more inclined to staying and posting themselves. 🙂

I don't go in for fake members, paid postings etc. I go for inviting people you know to your board and starting it out small, and growing it from there. Your buddies will be the key because they'll join out of actually wanting to. It is a labour of love.

0 members? So you're not signed up on it? :shake:

And exchanges would be the best thing for you.

It's set up so that the only way for a user to get in is through you, or another admin.

I don't know if that's the way you want it set up, but that's going to make it more difficult for users to completely register and post on the forum when they submit the registration (they have to wait for your approval first).

That might turn some potential members off, IMO.

You need to make threads yourself for people to post in. You could also order a package here. they have one especially for forums like yours.

As said before use fake members to start, thats my plan. Get some content going and then get some post exchanges going on here. All the while advertising the forum like crazy.

I made 10 posts, aside from my intro post. I hope this helps a bit.

Also, I think it would be a good idea for you to have a feedback / comments sub-forum so that people who join your forum can leave comments in the forum. Another great way to keep your site going.

Hope this helps,
Andy

I think like others have said, you need to start some topics in the empty subforums. This will allow new members to have topics open to discussion. It looks less active with empty subforums.

And don't forget to continue promoting here and on other promotion forums.
