8GB of RAM is plenty.Hitakashi said:First, Get more RAM 😛
That explains the price.Well I searched for gaming computers on google. It went to alienware, and then took me to dell to customize the laptop that I choose on alienware.

1. Laptops are not meant for gaming. They overheat too easy and are meant for basic tasks.Mr. Blogger said:Hobbies230 said:Also, don't go for a laptop, especially for that kind of moolah.
Why not?
Yeah and Alienware is owned by Dell so that's basically a #3. At least with Apple you know that their extremely overpriced crap is at least crap that will last you a long time in most cases.NBK*Twitch said:1. Laptops are not meant for gaming. 2. Alienware overprices everything just like Apple.
4. A gaming laptop costs more than an equivalent gaming desktop would.Gimgak said:Yeah and Alienware is owned by Dell so that's basically a #3. Maybe he just wants to run Firefox...Ascent said:Do you really need 8GB of RAM? What kind of games do you plan on playing on that?
Would still advise getting a desktop, laptops are a pain in the ass which is why I only use mine for the web and as a makeshift seedbox. For vacations an ipod or hell an ipad should do, kairosoft games + Jeff Vogel games if you have an ipad are more than enough imo.Mr. Blogger said:Hobbies230 said:Unless you actually need something portable, there's absolutely no reason to get a gaming laptop over desktop. I can't move a huge alienware desktop every time when I go on vacation or other places. Thats why I rather get the laptop than a desktop.
I could understand the need for a laptop if you are a student and need it for college, or have some other ulterior reason to carry it around a lot, but gaming laptops aren't even really meant to be carried around that much because they're heavy and bulky. Sure, you can bring it along if you're going over to a friend's place, or wanna move it into another room of the house, but how often do you really need to move around a gaming PC? You don't see people in coffee shops lugging around big ol' Alienwares and playing Call of Duty, do you?Mr. Blogger said:I can't move a huge alienware desktop every time when I go on vacation or other places. RAM is cheap, so if you're going for a high-end system might as well pop up to 8GB.Ascent said:Do you really need 8GB of RAM? What kind of games do you plan on playing on that?
