Out of toilet paper?

I live in Australia and the NT News loves to take the p$ss, I lived in Darwin for many years and they are just kidding around and did it as a joke.
As for CNN I wouldnt trust them as far as I can throw them, how surprising they would fall for this stupidity and take is seriously... not.
NT News is pretty much a satirical paper now days.

The local Family Dollar (a cheap goods store for those who don't know), didn't anticipate running out of toilet paper and a number of other stuff, and didn't plan on upping the number of weekly shipments initially. Now they are out of stock till they can finally get a delivery with those items.
The major store within a half a mile of my home, keeps getting daily deliveries, but I am not sure about the toilet paper stock piles at the various warehouses in the region.

My wife and I went shopping earlier for my lunch for the week and for other food. The toilet paper section was completely wiped out (lol). The hand soap was almost completely out too. Thankfully we have toilet paper in the house, but the shortage of toilet paper is ridiculous. A local Aldi store is closed until tomorrow since they needed to stock the shelves back up.

Thinking about the necessities situation, made me wonder why so many stores and producers, didn't just begin stockpiling, just in case of a rush on the goods. I mean, it would have been a wise decision to increase production and supply, to make sure most big stores didn't run out of available supplies of different things like toilet paper and hand sanitizer.
But old people seem to be the only ones dying - thought that's terrible, though!

Not just old people are dying, there was a couple recent cases of babies and little children dying from it. I personally have a compromised immune system as it is, if I were to get sick, and then contract the virus somehow, I might as well be dead myself if my body can't fight it off at the same time with something else.
Smokers have a tough deal here.
The trouble is a few people panic-buying triggers others into panic-buying as well.
You might not need toilet paper now but when you see people with their shopping cart piled high with nothing but toilet paper and see the supplies dwindling you're more likely to buy some to make sure you've got it before you run out. Toilet paper is particularly visible because it's so bulky - the person buying 50 tins of beans just has a box in their cart but the person buying 50 packs of toilet paper has their cart piled high; if 50 tins of beans disappear from the shelf you can't see it from the other side of the store, and so on.
The virus is potentially serious, at least for older and immune-compromised people, but for most of the population I suspect the panic is going to do far more damage than the virus ever could.

My guess is they fear that the government will shut down the country and ban any non essential travel which might mean you won't be allowed to go out and shop at stores nor will they be allowed to be open. This is what I think the panic buying is about especially after people seen what has been done over it Italy and China in regards to this virus.
It's crazy here in central Florida, shelves are all empty and new stock not even making the floors. I order toilet paper online about a week and and should have it by the end of week. I keep a good supply anyway sine I have four adults in the house.
it's not just toilet paper, Tins of things, bread, soups, food and you name it it's all going out of stock and empty.
Going to get worse then better, think about the crazy people that brought so much items and once this has ended they can not get ride of it lol

They will try and return everything they didn't use.😉
A lot of places around me are out of stuff. Not much at the grocery store my mom said. She picked up a couple extra toilet paper packs and stuff. Hand sanitizer you can't find. I did find some at Bath and Body Works and bought some of those.

I know I offered to send toilet paper to those in need but where I live there is such a huge amount of hoarding that all the stores are out most of the time. Once a shipment comes in they sell out within 15 minutes! This is insane. My daughter is down to 1 roll at her apartment so I went out to the Amish store where I heard they had some and they have been out for a couple weeks now. So I went to Walgreen and they had single rolls with a 2 roll limit so that was good to find.
Are you on stay at home orders yet? Our state has stay at home orders and the ones nearby have travel bans so everyone is freaking out about having to stay in for another 30 days.
