What do you think is the most overused type of forums (Gaming Forum, Admin Forum, Promotion Forum, etc.)

I think Gaming Forum and Promotion Forum are overused a lot.

Promotion forums, gaming forums, general forums,.

But hey, the more the merrier!

Can't disagree with anything posted thus far. I would also say "new ideas" are overdone for a short period. You will see users come up with new ideas and everyone tries to run with it without any knowledge of the subject or any content to really go with. That new territory feeling really makes a lot of forum owners run with ideas that they are not experienced in or have no interest in whatsoever.

If it's new, unique, and has a chance of a decent userbase many admins will just hop on a new market and see what happens. Can't say I blame them though, everyone wants an active community and some established markets are way too difficult to compete in.

Well my opinion is, the more the merrier as Midnight mentioned, as were would our forums be without those forums we have today. There is no law, not saying that you have said that but there is no law that there can only be 1 forum of each category, sports & recreation, RPG, promotion et cetera. I think perhaps some forums are overused but how many of these promotion forums become a success and offer different things - none. Forum Promotion is probably the only unique forum that offers the first ever services created, and how many gaming forums do you see with different things but allowing them to edit there profile to something customable. I myself can't speak for graphic designing as I do own and found my own graphics forum, but I try to make it the odd one out with adding different features and priviledges for members to enjoy and not abuse. But now how many general discussion forums do you see without having pretty much the same boards just a different organization.

I myself is taking to sides to this rant.

I would have to say gaming forums for sure. It's difficult to make a gaming forum that's unique.

What? A very large assumption. FP wasn't the first promotion forum, and I highly doubt the services were first created here. It most likely derived from paid posting on forums, and reviews aren't unique at all.

Gaming forums, a new forum directed towards Nintendo or Sony would be easier to go with, but every thinks if it's general gaming, it'll do better. :|

General forums are overdone and almost impossible to start too, that's probably the hardest to cover since the biggest forums on the internet fall under that category.

I agree with all of this.

Besides, all of the forums in the world are not on FP, so why stereotype them as such?

It doesnt matter if an idea has been overdone or not. Each community is different and has different people / content.

Honestly, I don't think one genre has in particularly been overdone and if you have a good enough community pretty much anyone can run a successful forum providing a lot of hard work and dedication goes into it.

Very true. It can be difficult to start up a community regardless of the subject, but as long as you make it as unique as you possibly can, then it should work.

Gaming forums are over used a lot and especially forums dedicated to a specific console like XBOX 360, PS3 or Wii.

I don't get why there are so many promotion forums, particularly those running phpBB 3 on Christian Bullock's absolution style.
