Which antivirus software do you think is better- paid or free?

AVG free 2016 edition has always been fine for me, and I saw no further advantages to paid software

There's not more protection with free/paid software, it's just more features that experienced security enthusiasts don't need. Free AVs aren't always bad, for some reason people think they are.

Of course, better paid
Nope....

For example would you say Spybot Search and Destroy Premium is better than Malwarebytes Free?

I have used paid, but other the year I started to use free since it's costly

I've used a paid version and it didn't really do much more than a free one. I use free ones now.

I use free antivirus when I can, such examples include Bitdefender Free, Avast, and I have also used and highly recommend Avira. For important computers or ones with very low requires I've found Webroot to run flawlessly and do exactly what I need it for (doesn't use excess resources, very very light, etc.). Plus for $19/yr for 3 devices you can't really go wrong at all in my eyes at that price.

Paid Antivirus is better than free. Free antivirus protects you against common Viruses and Spyware.
Benefits of Paid Antivirus:
  • Real Time Protection in Antivirus, Malware, Spyware and even Firewall.
  • Additional extras to protect your identity online, perfect for people who shop online.

I'm using Avast and the laptop always run smooth without any bug or error. Avast has a free version so you can easily install it free on the Internet

I use Kaspersky Internet security 2016 full paid version. Free antivirus is similar to having nothing on your desktop.

Personally I believe that you shouldn't be forced to pay extra for security however I'm on a Chromebook where all code has to be signed by Google to run so I don't need nor have an anti-virus program.

I use MalwareBytes Premium. Its paid. It's better due to the automatic updates and other features. Its only $25/year, so not bad.

If you use your laptop/pc for work, you can maybe search for a paid antivirus. Otherwise, stick with a free one.
