It looks good. 🙂 It looks as though it will give the series a much-needed (in my opinion) make-over, and the Nintendo Direct trailer alone has persuaded me to but it (my first pokemon game in a while).

Makes me feel old. I still remember playing Pokemon Red, Blue, and Yellow on my Gameboy Color! I'm glad that the fans seem to be embracing the change in graphics with open arms. Looks rather nice. :cheer:

This does seem like a much bigger change than the usual makeover this series gets with each new release.

I do admit, this new style could be an interesting change to Pokemon. I really like it and can't wait to see what they come up with.

Looks nice. I'll probably buy it but it's kinda weird seeing a pokemon game like that.

me too lol and I haven't bought a pokemon game since Crystal was released :0 and if this new one is as good as they say I will be getting a 3DS just for it 🙂

Been playin' the hand held Pokemon games for years. Hope to continue to do so with this. Main thing I really, really, really want though. Is the ability to travel to all regions. Black/White 2 was/is a fairly good game and some of the additions they added was pretty sweet.

I don't know if I'll be getting a 3DS just for the sake of these games. Pokemon Black and White 2 just came out last year and I still have yet to beat either one! It sounds like a cool concept, but I don't know if I'll be shelling out a couple hundred bucks just for one game. If they came out with it for the regular DS as well, then I'd consider it, but I'm not buying a console just for the sake of one game.

Yeah it would be great if it was for the DS as well.

Well, now I'm reconsidering because it looks like they're coming out with more decent titles for the 3DS, so maybe I will upgrade...no clue there as of now.

I really love Soul Silver, but I'm just wondering if anyone else notices that each Pokemon is the same exact game with maybe new characters and graphics.

You mean the same exact starter types? I've noticed this too. Ever since Red Blue and Yellow the starter types have always been Fire, Water and Grass...why can't they try new types for a change? Besides Fire and Grass are becoming more and more common in the wild I've noticed. How about trying types that aren't as common?

This is a bit of a gravedig but I don't want to start a new topic because some excellent discussion has occurred in this thread. And, there's new info regarding the game!

BEfore I get to the updates, I'd like to attempt to answer the above. The reason they start every game with the same 3 types is because those 3 types are common. They don't want you getting an over powered Pokemon for the beginning of the game. It also presents a common power triangle (water -> Fire -> Grass -> water).

Anyways, new updates:

- Fairy type Pokemon
- Existing Pokemon may get fairy type addition (Marril, Jigglypuff, etc)
- Rhyhorn is a ride-able Pokemon
- New ways to interact with Pokemon with Pokemon-Amie

I was okay and actually somewhat excited till I heard the Fairy type part.

It's not the name or the addition of the new type that bothers me, that's great and they probably should add a new type or two. However, it's the way they're doing that bothers me.

First of all, Fairy is supposedly going to be super effective against Dragon. Now, tell me how the hell a freaking FAIRY like Jigglypuff is supposed to hit a dragon like... well, any of them. Ridiculous.

Speaking of Jigglypuff, why do they have to go back and change types for pokemon in the FIRST generation (and others)? Add NEW pokemon for that type, fine, don't change old types. That screws up everything.

They added (dark?) types and implemented them to 1st gen. I don't see anything wrong with adding types to existing Pokemon as in science, new discoveries change existing theories and junk all the time.

Regarding the typing, if you think about it, fairies are mythical creatures with tremendous power. I can see one magical creature being able to best another. And, just because a Pokemon has a type doesn't mean it will one hit KO a type it's superior too. It all comes down to stats, moves, and luck.

They added Dark when I was too young to know anything about the types. I just caught what I liked and what looked good. Now I know better.

Yeah, fairies have magical powers, but look at some of their newly added Fairy types. Marill hardly has any magical type attacks, meaning they'd have to add new moves to make it make sense. That's possible, but I have a feeling it will still be lacking.

They add new moves to mostly all next gen Pokemon games. Pokemon that aren't even "Fairy type" should be able to learn fairy moves depending on the Pokemon.

I don't think Marill (water + fairy) will be able to learn any dangerous fairy moves. Jigglypuff (normal + fairy) looks more of a fairy type Pokemon.

Still, Marill and Jigglypuff suck. I'm more worried about Gardevoir, and what moves are super effective against fairy type Pokemon.

Hopefully you all plan to battle over Wi-Fi. There's a nice tournament coming up soon after the game's release and the prize will make your jaw drop. I've said too much, :/
