Possibly have to get rid of my dog D:

I've watched my dog more closely lately. While he is a happy go lucky dog, I know he's also in agony because of his skin condition. Nothing really works to help him.
I have...considered more of putting him down and out of his misery, but I don't know if I could live with myself for it. When I think about this from the dogs view, it's really hard to try and guess what he wants.
I know he loves us, but..as I said, he's also in agony. I noticed on the upper 2 front of his legs he's been licking so bad to the point of now they're completely a raw-pink-ish red color. I've noticed on other parts of his body he's licked and scratched himself raw. For him, I know it must be hell to keep having the itchy feeling, then hurt yourself scratching it.
I'm just not sure what to do. I wanna do what's best for him, but I'm not sure what that is. 😕

Indeed this is an extremely difficult decision. Perhaps you could ask a veterinarian's opinion on your dogs condition and see what he/she believes would be right for the animal. I'm not saying to do what they tell you, however a specialists opinion could be what you need to help you make that final decision.
The only reason you would be putting your dog to sleep is because you love him and want him out of misery. You should trust your instincts.
