ProBoards NO MORE!

A converter forum? Like...it takes posts, post DATES, accounts, account post counts and info and all that and just basically carbon copies it all to a new board???

If that's true, sorry for sounding so naive. By converter forum you mean a forum on here where this process can be discussed?
Yes, they exist. The best place for this to be discussed is the Forum Tech Support forum. Just take note that it's a tough task. HCF spent about two weeks trying to get this done, after all. I remember converting Dashing took a fair while a well, but that involved converting two forums and merging them (which, *cough* can be done as well). 😳

Anyway, congratulations on the move. 😀 It's great to see the project went ahead and the result looks amazing.

Lol, now both Nintendo Addict and Brawl Domain, the only two ProBoards forums that I ever actually liked, are converted. Take that, PB.

Thank god you switched. Your forum looks much nicer now. Still, shameit wasn't vB 😉

You can find it on SMF's site though

@topic, i was surprised when i saw it, even though i don't like SMF it looks very nice good job :great:
None of the crawlers are on SMF.org, at least last I checked.

Check on the Converters section on the community forum.

New forum looks awesome!

But you should've gone with PhpBB instead

Just no. SMF was the right choice for him because it's the closest thing to Proboards.

Then it's the right choice for me too!

A question: How's the new Brawldomain's google ranking going next to the old one? Has there been a loss of rank associated with it because of the move, or trouble establishing rank for the new one?

Oh - How'd you get a domain name to mask the Proboards one like that {Brawldomain.com} I'm thinking of doing the same thing in preparation for a move if I do one, and then just switching that .com address over to the new site. Would that also preserve any rank that the established domain has, when the actual site did a switcheroo underneath the domain name? Sorry to ask so many questions on this, it's just that I don't know of anyone else who has accomplished all the stuff that I WANT to do.

The thing about the pagerank. I've only been concentrating on "http://www.brawldomain.com --- and that url is coming with me, and all it's backlinks, which will soon redirect to brawldomain.com/index.php for SMF

About masking the domain over the proboards url, you'll have to use "Manual Domain Hosting" on proboards support site, in the forum support section (it's sticked up top). You'll have to buy the domain, redirect it's DNS servers to proboards, then purchase $14 credits in your proboards adminCP, thats what proboards charges a year.

My main concern, was the ads removal service was sucking me dry, spending from $32-$48 a month. Now, I just pay $12 a month for hosting, Ad FREE.

CloverField, I could have went vB, but seriously why? SMF is very easy to use, and has all the features I could ever ask for with my forum 🙂

Thanx everyone for the kind words, loving the new forum, and seems to be a successful move for members, as in the first 24 hours already had 80 members log into their new SMF accounts 🙂

I still remember when your forums were just starting off (You advertised a lot) lol

Congrats on the move and hope your forum continues to do well.

brawldomain.com is the future of the forum, domain-wise. He's going to point it after a while.

Right, it's currently still on the proboards one. I'll ask on proboards support about how to do that for mine.

I have to leave brawldomain.com on the proboards site for a bit, until I can take the time to send a mass email out.

Cause, members have that forum bookmarked through that url, which they need to they can access their PM box, for their new log in details on the SMF forum 😉

Oh yeah I forgot you get a new password when you convert. Thats why I couldn't log in  .

Wow, excellent! Very glad you converted over. Feels good, doesn't it? 🙂

Thanks for the shout-out too, by the way! 😀

I love SMF, great work on the conversion. I'll check out the site when I get home. :great:

I would say it's not the worst. Forumotion has it beat by a mile for worst. 😛 Proboards is good for what it is intended most for--getting people started in learning how to create and run a forum. Those {few} who want to take it further will then find it easier to get their own board.

I browsed the new BD and it's so lightning fast! What host are you using? How's that host working out for you?

I noticed the Proboards one is already down. 😛 That was a quick and smooth transfer, I'm impressed.
