ProBoards NO MORE!

Shotgun recommended me a host, and It's actually pretty cheap, reliable, and their support is very speedy at replying to emails. It's almost just as much for 1 month, as it costs just to remove one session of ads from proboards. They're $7 fee per 50,000 views that only last me 3 days 😛

Yup, my main fear was that members wouldn't take the time to convert their account over; but over 140 members have already changed their accounts, we already almost reached or "Most User Online" Record, which was, in 2 years, 113 on proboards. And only 5 days on SMF , we already reached a record of 102. So it's definitely looking up.

And, http://www.hcfwesker.prboards.com is still up ; but it's become a ghost town now. I've already got the .com domain redirected to the new site.

And, agreed about proboards. Perfect for those brand new to foruming, which I was at the time. It is frowned upon around here, and, I don't want to rub it in, but me and you, Acorn, have managed to build 2 of the most successful forums advertised here, and both from proboards. Software means "jack"! 😛

And, thank you again, everyone for the wonderful comments and support. 🙂

And, here's 2 themes we've already made, 1 light, and one dark , of course.

What made your conversion so successful was how you successfully got your entire staff, and your members to buy in. That was the main reason why it worked.

I agree, the host doesn't mean jack.

What will probably cost the most is getting a custom mod made to enable the coloured names I have on my board, not the hosting.

Proboards IS slow. Especially, it seems, the past few months. A LOT of members complain about the load time and nothing we do seems to really make it dramatically better.

What they charge for ad removal is insane. It only pays to do it for small boards. Over time we've watched both our search function and our mass PM function break down under the burden of member and post number. Neither one works anymore. Search, well, it works sometimes on the smaller boards 😛

Oh cool you can also create multiple skins on there! We have over 50 on our site XD but only the default one ever looks good because of the lack of ability to customise the HTML for each one.

Well, I won't lie. hfcwesker was telling me how much he saved by moving to paid hosting. To be frank, he can by me a Wii in no time with the money he saved 🙂.

Don't be intimidated by the Python script though. The only "coding" you have to do is change the settings file to match your forum's settings, the instructions are all there.

Is it a bad sign that I'm completely lost reading this? I don't understand any of it.

What don't you understand? If it asks for a topic ID, get the topic ID (the number at the end of the URL of a topic). If it asks for the number of members, get the member number for your last registered member.

It's rather straight forward. :/

I'll try and help you where I can.
