Do you think this is good? Going on many promotion forums and promoting your site, or do you think people will get sick of it?

Well, the problem is is that you get many of the same people going on the promotion forums. So it is un;ikely that you will get many new members from promoting on many different forums.

This for FP.

Opposite of this for non-FP.

What that means is, if you are promoting on promotion forums promoted at forumpromotion (how many times can a man say promotion in one sentence?) you won't get any more publicity. If you go on other promotion forums (or webmaster) not promoted on FP, more explosure is certain.

Yes, but the problem is many people don't realise this. I also find it quite hard to find a promotion forum that isn't already promoted on here. 😛

I find it hard to find any promotion forums that exist apart from FP & PB right now, all the others are down, sold, merged etc.

I do not think it hurts any seeing as it is free advertising, but like others have said.. you probably won't get any new members from it. The only other promotion forum that ever had a community as good as FP's is Forum Advertiser(FA)and sadly it is gone now 🙁.

People will get sick of it.

Search engines won't.

It will help you get your link out there, if anything. It might also get you a few members.

The trick is to promote at the places where people would look or if seeing a interesting link hit it and spent sometime on the site.

Maybe even become a member.

So in short:

If you own a promotion forum, go promote on other promotion forums.

If you own a webmaster forum go promote on other webmaster forums.

etc ...

You need to find the place where most people come that are into your niche. If you start a admin or promotion forum you got alot of places to go to to promote/share your link.

*Cough* Lol 😛

I think promoting on promotion forums in the same 'bubble' of forums does work because there's more chance of someone seeing it and staff often join sites promoted on a forum were they're staff.

How would promoting in the same 'bubble' be helpful? The best way to promote would be get OUT of the bubble and promote on unknown promotion forums, and also get onto niche forums like yours and advertise like a cheeky bugger 😛

I think it can still be useful because the more places you have your link the more likely it will be that potential members finally click and make the choice to become members. (If I recall right, it takes around 7 views of an ad for a site before most even remember that site. So more exposure = good.) Even if all you're doing is posting on the same ring of sites created by FP users, all those links add up. (Increasing Alexa rank, Google rank, etc...)

As a side note, there are a ton of promotion sites out there, but to find them it takes a bit of looking. Googling Forum and Promotion will primarily only likely lead you here.
A good way to find out other places to promote your site is to click onto other's sites and follow affiliate chains. Perhaps ask other admins if they know of some good spots to do some promotion. And finally be sure to look outside your niche. Even if you don't get a lot of members by doing it, you'll still likely find sites where you can advertise. (Plus the more links you make the better.) And the wider range of links can help draw in members from a more diverse crowd (so instead of having the same half-dozen members from FP, you might end up with more members from other sites.)

I'm not saying it's better to stay in the bubble but it does work and I explained why.

Any promotion is good promotion I always say. Even if they promotion forum is hosted on FP, there could be one or two people who don't use FP and decide to sign up on your site. Multiply that by 10 (assuming you have promoted your site on 10 forums) you could possibly get 20 new users. Doesn't seem much but every member helps.

I am not saying YOU WILL get that because you MIGHT NOT however that is an example of what could happen.

It can't hurt you need to get the word out about your forum, the hardest part of growing a forum is getting active members.

I think it can help greatly; it also gives the opportunity for people to promote their forums on yours... even if it's just in a sig.
People can help each other out with the knowledge of their forums/sites/blogs, by making exchanges and other things. It also just gets the link more out there.
They can also be useful to find other forums that would be good to advertise your forum on, in order to find members.
Since promotion forums have everything, it's easy to seek forums that have similar genre's to yours, it makes it much easier to find possible members.

People don't always look at forums the first time they see a link to them. People don't always join forums the first time they visit them either. The more you advertise, the more chance that people will eventually visit. If they see the same forum name and url appearing on many sites then eventually people will take a look in most cases. If they see your link on 1 site once then they probably won't ever visit your site.

Promoting on promotion sites is one way to do this but also promoting on other sites such as in signatures etc all help. It is all about keeping your site in the face of other users.

From personal experience the more you promote a forum the more members it should get.

The more the better, but as someone else said, it seems like every board I post an ad on, by the time I go back to bump the topic in a couple weeks, I get the host telling me it's been removed. These are usually self hosted forums too, not those free forums y'all hate so much. 😉
