What are some reasons members have given for leaving your forum? If you've left forums, what are some reasons why?

I left a forum yesterday. The owner picked a fight with me about my love for Gladiators. The argument was silly and I was just getting the hint that it was time to move on to greener pastures. So that's what I did.

I guess he wasn't up for the fight?
He wanted to fight about gladiators of all things to throw a fit about. I meant like going back in time to Ancient Rome when they had the games. It was time to leave when he started referring to me as a cruel and immoral sadist who liked to watch people die. I mean come on! I was just entertaining an idea of what the games might have been like BACK THEN in 105 BCE to 404 CE. For the record, he doesn't promote his forum on here nor does he have an account. I don't want people think I'm meaning anyone here on this forum. Just wanted to clear that up.

I find it funny that just because you like gladiators that it somehow just means you're a sadist, as if you can't appreciate gladiators while acknowledging that it could be a cruel sport. Boxers and UFC fighters are skilled at what they do too but one could argue they end up worse off since they live with the issues they end up with instead of being executed in the ring like gladiators could be.

Most who leave my forum just up & leave without a word. A few have said they had to downsize the number of forums they are on.
When I have left most forums, I just leave without a Goodbye. If I’m leaving, it’s more times than not because the owner isn’t around, forum is not moderated well, or there’s just too much spam & toxicity going on. I figure they wouldn’t hear my words anyways.
@Terminated It almost seems like it wasn't about the Gladiators per se but that was that proverbial last straw. Gladiators were highly respected even though many were slaves thrown into the ring.

I've had some members announce their departure. One of the reasons was that they would receive a Warning for Flaming and that would make them mad. I mean, it's a Christian forum, you'd think that name calling would be unacceptable to everyone, but there are some individuals who just don't get it. At the beginning, we had members leave because their beliefs were being debated and they only wanted people to agree with them.

That my forum is too complicated. I have an RPG forum and the first thing you have to do is fill out a character sheet. The people that aren't serious about RPG'ing or don't know anything about RPG'ing usually can't get past filling out their character sheet for some reason. I've posted a thread specifically explaining what you have to do to fill out your character sheet and they still can't get it right.

I don't ever recall leaving a forum myself but I have had members leave my forums, generally all for the same reason which is because of a disagreement with other members.

Just because it's a religious forum doesn't mean it's going to stop people from saying what they want. Religious people have their own version of what they want their religion to be, they have their own version of what they want their god to be, and therefore they have their own rules. That's why there are so many denominations. When people don't like the terms and conditions of their religion. They make another denomination or cult and change the rules. It's all for their convenience and if you don't like it, they will brand you as an evil doer.

One thing that Christians have in common is that we believe that we should love our neighbor, not just the ones we agree with. It's easy for them to forget that and they have to be reminded at times. Something I used to ask them is, "Would you say that to Jesus?" Usually it helps them see what I mean. We're created in God's image, so when we speak to our neighbor, we should be reminded that they too are created in His image and we should be loving and merciful.

Yet those members acted by their own rules. Just because someone declared they practice the same religion or worship the same god as you do doesn't make it so when their actions say otherwise. Other Christians don't all depict Jesus as the same person you depict him to be. Like I said, there are other denominations that have their own version and their own rules.

Left so many RP forums not due to this, but just because I lose interest in the forum or lack of people seeming interested in my character. Yes, I try to branch out and post in other people's plotters or open threads too.. Sometimes it just doesn't work out in my favor. Instead of getting angry or upset, I just leave.

I have had to leave many due to mental health reasons. The only set back is these same admins will ban you for leaving. Ive been banned from four forums recently due to.leaving for mental health reasons. I have made it known that I struggle this way but no one cares, apparently.

I sure wish I'd get banned for leaving. Some administrators force me to keep my accounts.

I don't think it's right to ban someone for just leaving. Now, with that said, I have banned some people who make an account, delete, that Wash, Rinse, Repeat. After several times, I feel like they are not serious & just playing a game.

I've read that on several forums where they said they do not delete accounts. That's one thing I like about Proboards, admin cannot stop us from deleting our own account.

I kind of wish there was an update where you can go into settings and delete your account if you no longer want to be part of a community. Instead you're at the mercy of staff and have to abandon the account.

I only really leave if I feel the forum owners are too arrogant. I think 2022 and the decline of forum interest have made no room for arrogant forum owners. I usually leave and attempt to compete.

As for why people leave my forum, no one really has lately but a few say they need to leave for personal reasons. I wish them well and let them do what they need to do.

Agreed. I think there's way less arrogant forum owners, admins, and even mods. But yeah since forum interest isn't quite there I too noticed less of this.
