Revillution was hacked.

Earlier today my site Revillution.com was hacked due to an exploit in vBulletin 3.8.7. The damage was bad enough to the point where, I couldn't restore it, so now I'm having to start fresh, clean. I'm finally putting my IPB license to use I guess. So it's no longer for sale as I'll be using it for my site now....Just hope we don't have any further problems....

Wow sorry to hear, I know how it feels. Are you sure it was a vbulletin exploit? Because if its your host security then you need to change as your new site might get hacked also.

I checked it out this morning and the database has been converted to IPB! Good job guys on the conversion.

Yes everything got converted over. I also found out exactly how they got in. It wasn't an exploit in vBulletin 3.8.7 itself, but rather an exploit in CYB's Advanced Forum Rules. They have updated the modification to patch the exploit, sadly, they've sent me the information a little too late! 😛

Anyways, I feel safer on IPB now anyways. 🙂 We'll just make the best of it and work on it from there. Plus, 3.2 is going to be quite amazing from my understanding 😀

This is the first time I've heard of a vBulletin forum getting hacked - what plugins were you using? Next time have an off-site backup system like r1soft, and make all your passwords harder.

If you do get a restore then restore it then use the VB to IPB converter and you'll have all the post hope this helps.

It was mentioned already. It was due to an exploit in one of the plugins being used. Many forums using it were also hacked. The plugin has since been updated.

Wober (theezy's forum) converted to IPB as well from vBulletin after getting hacked twice on vBulletin. There's a few people here and there on TAZ and DP who have been talked about getting hacked, but a lot of the time, it's due to something like what DG experienced or some other method.
