Royal Wedding

This is a huge ordeal for the majority of the UK (and most of us would consider you fairly offensive), you didn't have to watch it. Mainstream media was covering it but other news sources were still focusing on "real" news. Do you know the reason why you don't consider it "real" news? Because it's not depressing. This is why news is called news. Watch any news programme, I would suspect that around 75% of the stories are either negative or pessimistic. This was a positive day for not only the UK (which is still going through immense cuts and job loss) but for the world as a whole.

How many times does the entire world come together for one day to forget the majority of problems in life? What, because we decided to celebrate our Monarchy you believe us to be extremely naive in ignoring other news? Ha, pathetic. this is why you should attend school, you'll be taught about sensitive subjects such as this.

MissTake and Rich: Could not agree more.

Could not agree more with you, I'm not a royalist by a long shot but yesterday made me proud to be British
Why?
Because of the ceremony, how the armed forces, police and royal family put on one hell of a show. The entire focus of mainstream media across the globe was on London for those few hours. How the Monarchy is modernising itself, how they didn't come out all guns blazing with the bold statement of "WE ARE ROYALTY, YOU ARE PLEBS!". They've become really down to Earth.

Nice to have an English commoner marry a prince too. Was a very special day but a few wont understand why.

Thats not the point, the point is the mainstream media should be more responsible than to provide nonstop coverage of an event that serves merely as a "feel good" story. I don't care how important their marriage is to you and your country, dying children are slightly higher up there for me and should be for everyone.

A lot of the time we don't care about your opinions on everything but we still read it and listen to what you have to say none the less, we don't slam you down like you tend to do to people.

Dying children are still high up on the priority list, that cause doesn't just go away forever because we allow ourselves one joyous day in our countries history, I would suggest if it's that strong an issue for you then you devote your time and energy donating to that cause rather than blowing off wasted steam on a forum. You might like to pretend you're Bono but you are a whole world away from the likes of him as of now.

Exactly, MissTake!

So you believe dying children are saved by media coverage? I don't think so. Why don't you stop watching them on TV and begin donating like a good few of us do already? If dying children are so high up on your list, why not do something about it? You could use all the time spent on this forum with helping the children out, yet you'd rather provoke arguments?

>Implying I don't listen to the opinions I "slam down"
>Implying the media ever provides coverage to issues of any significant importance
>Implying I don't dedicate an enormous amount of time to causes I believe in
>Implying caring about your fellow man makes you Bono

In reality, you can twist this any way you like, but in the end its just two people of no importance getting married. Yes, I just said no importance. They, just like you and I, are simply human beings. They are no better than any of us, and really don't deserve to have a wedding with over a billion people watching.

I understand you probably don't like people exposing you to the reality that these celebrities you hold so dear are no better than a homeless man on the street, but its the truth. We're all made the same way, we'll all die at some point, and we all need air to breathe. What family you're born into and how much money you make doesn't make you important, it makes you a human being who has a lot of luck.

It's all well and good that Kate and William got married, but it doesn't matter, and it's not important. Sorry if that irritates you, but its true.

Also, its not a good thing to assume I merely post on this forum, but do nothing to support my causes. You know what assuming does don't you?

Still wasting your breath? you obviously are not listening again?

Just because they don't matter to you doesn't mean they don't matter to everyone else, good job we don't all think alike eh? 😉

So basically what you're doing here is "LALALALALA I CAN'T HEAR YOU!!!". I make valid points, and all of a sudden its "Lets just agree to disagree."

Alright, sounds good.

I never said that once....I could sit here all day and say that your opinions are your opinions only and that regardless of your opinions us Brits had a lovely day.......and now we'll get back to saving the world 😉

The wedding symbolises a lot of things. It is a big day for democracy and shows that we are all equal. The Royal family are just like us, they just have a title. I am proud to be British and I feel that the wedding was very important. The same thing happened not long ago here in Sweden, our crown princess married a commoner who was later knighted. This is not the first time this sort of marriage happens in a short space of time but that does not mean it wasn't important, it shows we are moving forward.

Fixed.

Sorry I don't have a virtual ego, I'm far to old....

and as I've just told you via pm, I don't sit here going lalalalalala I'm not listening, I'm hearing EVERY single word you type 😉

Would you like me to pass you a spade? 😉

What valid points? You have no valid points but an opinion that no one cares about as it's ludicrous. For your information Catherine Middleton is not a celebrity. She's a commoner who has become a Duchess. They both are private and are out the spotlight.

Quit attempting to troll, you're failing. Why post in a thread if you don't care, leave this thread instead of insulting other's beliefs. If you were religious and I said God is fake and you're being blinded by a human created belief would that be fair? No.

It was a joyful occasion for us and whoever watched. That was the entire point and what both Kate and William wanted.

Well said Miss Take /Rich no one is forcing you to agree with us but for us Brits it mattered, royalty is part of who we are as a people.

How is royalty a part of your lives? You think they care about you at all?

Because we are a Monarchy, this you wont understand. We have our beliefs and our values. Having a royal family is part of English heritage, part of our history. You expect us to worship whatever your country holds dear? No. Why? Because we don't have it. But do we say it's wrong or say that we don't care when you either celebrate or give a shout out how awesome it makes your lives? No. I'm not sure where you're from but taking thanks giving as an example, we don't celebrate it but we respect how Americans hold such an awesome festival.

The amount of tourism, respect and income the royal family provides the British government (and the UK as a whole) is staggering. Your constant immaturity in this thread is also staggering, edit-quoting MissTake and simply putting "Fixed", plus asking how a massive part of the entire English history is a part of our lives is unbelievable. Do they not teach world history at all at school these days?

I don't expect you to worship anything from my culture, nice assumption.

And I understand the good ole king and queen have been a part of your system of Government since way back when, but that doesn't make it any less idiotic.

We all have different views, we Brits like the way our country is run, if you prefer differently that is completely ok, as we have already stated several times. We are just asking you to not push down on our culture as we are not pushing down on yours.

The thing that makes our world an interesting place to live in is that everyone has different views and we are all different. The world would be an amazingly boring place if we were all the same and shared the same views. Although we are all different we do need to learn to respect and understand eachothers views and opinions 🙂
