AWW NAWWWW... MAH AGE LVL IS TEH 99ORRZZZZZ

I'll write an article about this some time so you can all hear my opinion 🙂

Age restrictions are really pointless, you can't judge someone's maturity level by their age. Ever heard of the saying, "Never judge a book by its cover?" That's the same situation. I have been on forums since I was 12, I have seen users on forums as young as 10 years old, this user, was quite mature. I am still only 14 now, so if an age restriction of 15 was set, I wouldn't be able to go on forums anymore. Personally, I feel that I use good grammar, spelling, and post with quality, I don't think that I act unmature on forums. Don't judge someone by their age. I think there should be no age restriction, except if there is any inappropiate material at the forum. Although, if they are under 10 years old, I think they should be watched by an adult. Don't judge someone by their age. Age is but a number.

Those are my views. 😀

In a perfect world forums would be age restricted but we dont live in a perfect world and anyone can get around anything.

My forum is limited to 13 years old only and is probably going to be bumped up to 15 years old, because on Hocotate Freight, we have inapproriate jokes we pass around, plus the game I'm working on has blood, gore and horror.

No. Why? Do you really want to restrict the age just to show poor cable porn?? 😛

All ages are welcome - everything in the world relies on your age: Drivers License, Credit Card, ect. so why should a forum be another thing?

You don't know what age level will be like on your forum.

Fowler is a great admin. For all you know, he could be 8. But if you restricted age, Fowler wouldn't be here. :'(

My game in progress contains mature content, specifically blood and gore, for example there's a corpse hung from the top of a ceiling in one stage and plus one of the characters has sound effects that can be considered disturbing, and the story has suicide, horror, death and various disturbing factors involved.

and on my forum, inapproriate jokes and humor are thrown around(Do you think a kid is going to get the sense of a joke involving Mu-12 from BlazBlue and her nickname, "DAT ASS"?) and sarcasm and absurdism are there too.

There's a little thing called "mature content". Little kids couldn't get the sense of some of stuff in that topic.

What will kids see on a forum that they wouldn't have seen already on TV? I mean, you know about dirty jokes, but you are not 18. So does it matter?

What makes you think kids aren't mature enough for some stuff?

Even still, they should be barred from the forum because they can't view your adults only topics? That's the stupidest thing I've heard all day.

The difference is, I can handle violent content and such, I'm more worried about children under 13, I don't want to have to give the "talk" to some random kid on a forum.

@Agentmanningctu:
They just can't register unless they are 15 or over.

It's not your business what to tell a child. It's between the child and his or her parent.

Well I don't want to be freaking sued, just because some kid came into my forum and got nightmares for playing my game.

Plus, strong language is used on the forum.

By signing up, they are acknowledging the content on the forum, assuming you were smart enough to point out a warning in the TOS.

I needed to include something like that in my post but I forgot it. Thanks 😀

Probably needs to be updated, but..

"
This site may contain inappropriate content not suitable for those under 13 years old, so please enter in your birthdate."

You shouldn't restrict someone for their age. Considering the text you just quoted, the child in question (or their parents) should make the decision for him or herself.

"Whatever"

That's the kind of talk that separates the men from the boys...

And you said your forum was for mature audiences only...
