Should all forums be age restricted ?

 Whatever.

Besides, my forum is for teenagers and adults only, no kids.
That was a real mature reply.

But we are not talking about your forum in this topic. We are talking about age restriction in general. We merely used your forum as an example..

Eh, don't really know if I repied to this thread but....

i NEVER put age restrictions on my forum. Even if it contains inappropriate posts. The age restriction is completely useless. Never ran into a problem about age restrictions.

Plus, another thing..

I'm a fan of horror, you know Cthulhu and all that stuff.
Plus, I like Pyramid Head(The guy with the big pyramid on his head who liked to rape stuff in Silent Hill 2), My horror fanboyism(plus I'm a fan of "Downfall Parodies") is one reason I have the age limit on there, because I remember a little something..

Horror-The true horror that paralyzes the mind and scars it with nightmares is never truly healed
Which means I like psychological horror and that's the stuff of nightmares.

There's other reasons I have the age limit.

You don't need to be young to not like that kind of stuff.

Also, you don't need to be old to like that kind of stuff.

Lastly, it's not an age limit. It's an age requirement.

I don't see a problem with it. It's the admins responsibility to set up rules that every member should abide by, and it's the staff's responsibility to make sure these rules are kept. If a user under a certain age finds offense in something, he should either report the post, contact a staff member, or leave the site.

I've been a member on multiple forums that are kid friendly. Kids are actually awesome to have on a forum because their imaginations are better than a lot of us older people's and they can create some interesting discussions. IF a user is younger, and you can tell by the way he posts, than the staff should just ban him. No need to restrict all younger people from joining the site because some are more immature than others.

I can comprehend the meaning of psychological horror and it's secrets like most.

Kids don't understand psychological horror, because psychological horror is the thinking man's horror, not that random crap of a undead, bi-pedal cadaver appearing out of nowhere.

Do you have proof they don't understand?

And why are we still arguing these rules that are on your forum? This is supposed to be an open topic 😛

Who are you to suggest what a kid does or does not know?

I work in a school. Kids are not stupid. They're aware of stuff you wouldn't believe. Based on your comments here, most of them are more sophisticated than you.

I am against the idea because there mature 13 or 14 year old out there and I have meet some people that are round 22 years old yet they are immature.
Your grammar is one of a 12 year old lol

I think it depends on the forum type
for example it could be all about games which are for kids (normaly)

But why would a kid benefit a forum?

Kids have wonderful imaginations. The way they can benefit a forum is by bringing interesting conversations to the plate. As Agent sad, kids pickup on a lot. They're a lot of reallbright and intelligent kids that are more mature than older members.

You really can't restrict people from using a site because it is a case by case thing. You might find some 30 year old who is as immature as an 1 year old, than you find an eleven year old more mature than half the older people on your site.

Good point they bring up. If you had a kid yourself of a given age, would you let them on your forum? I'd let any of mine on my forum in an instant. Probably as long as they were at least 9 or so. Then again we are PG and enforce that actively. Mature themes abound in the RPG itself but no explicit content is allowed and swearing is limited by word filters.

I am 13, I go on sites I am not suppose to, I probably/might know more about sex/drugs than you's do as some parts of my town can be rough every once in a while.

You can't exactly stop people under 15 going on forums as they will simply ignore it.

English is my 2nd language and when it comes to the grammar part, I suck. I have been trying to improve it for years but look like I am just going to always have grammar of a 12 year old.

You are hands down the most ignorant, close-minded person in the entire world.
Well why would a post by a some kid, assist my forum getting off the ground?

Considering your grammar isn't your first language, your grammar is great. You literally got a couple of letters wrong on that post. Don't worry about it man :great:

Any way on topic, forums legally must comply with COPPA so in my view all forums should be age restricted to some degree.

It's a post? I thought every post mattered. And if the post is interesting, or follows all of your rules, why do you care if he's a kid?

Well, I don't more kids coming on to a forum meant for teenagers and adults, just because one kid decides to join and makes a great post.

It would ruin some of the rep of the forum.
