Should I?

Sorry for all the downtime from promote my web. Getting a domain name and switching to myBB

Yeah, I like MyBB better off phpBB..I think it looks better. But that's just my opinion, lol.

I'm going to have to go ahead and disagree with Jeff here. I personally love phpBB3 and feel it is the best free forum software out there. So, I'm going to have to recommend keeping your forum on phpBB. 🙂

It's personal preference really. However, MyBB seems to have more features, plus is easier to use, so it may be worth the switch.

But if PhpBB3 is good for you, then why fix what isn't broken?

well then... apparently, phpbb themes are hard to customize so another reason why i'm switching to myBB...

Go with what you like using. There is no point using a software you don't feel comfortable with or don't really like. It is better to find a software a stick with it from the start. Changing software midway during your forums live can either cause a positive or a negative reaction from any members you have.

MyBB's template system is pretty easy to grasp, and it's simple. All you need to know is basic (x)HTML and CSS. You don't have to learn some proprietary coding system which doesn't really follow standards and such. Also, to me it makes no sense at all. Also, you'll love their plugins system, it's much easier to install mods than phpBB. The merge script is pretty easy to use too.

+1

MyBB is the best free forum software, and vBulletin the best paid. Use one of those 😉

Honestly I'd use what I was more comfortable with. Since I'm a long time fan of phpBB, I said phpBB.

Well mind you, do install a MyBB test forum, install some mods, make some lame posts before even trying to convert.

I've had issues with converting phpBB3 to MyBB. :/ I dont' even think they're conversion thing is even under development anymore.

It is, but the release of MyBB 1.6 is taking up more resources than the merge script. What did you have problems with?

Post count not shoeing up in the profile. It will say 2 but when I view the posts it'll be the actual amount. xD

I tried the tools thing where you recount stuff, didn't work. :/ It also creates Dasher & Dasher_phpbb3_merge, which is weird, so I just merged them.

Well that one is expected, because you have a Dasher on your MyBB AND a Dasher on your phpBB. As for the recount, it could be that it worked when you thought it wasn't. If not, you can easily get support at the community forums.

I don't think you should because it's extra work and phpBB is more customizable I reckon.

Well, idk which to do. Yes, phpBB is good but its frustrating when I need to customize my own skin. My friend who helped me with PMW told me to use myBB so I can customize it more.

Ill probably stay with phpBB for a few days until we get this sorted out
