How the hell are they gonna stop the trouble that's likely to ensue when a whole bunch of annoyed gun owners don't agree with your restrictions or banning?
Because my experience is, people tend not to like having less rights. And in this case, I suspect some of them will be pretty 'happy' to go out in a blaze of 'glory' regardless of the human costs.
That's not good for anyone.

That last part is true, but I still maintain that many people gradually come to this conclusion; it takes months or even years of planning their "exit" from this world. It must be that depressing to be in their shoes. The Governor said:Forces of Steel said:Give the mentally unstable easier access to better counselors and helpful medication to keep them from going absolutely bonkers.
The thing is, not all of these people are mentally unstable or have mental issues. There have been cases where people considered normal mentally went out and did something crazy. The only way to explain it is that they snapped.

Here are my thoughts on this. (Please, excuse me. I'm not trying to sound like a butthole in this post. I'm only trying to present my point on the matter.)
Criminals don't abide by the laws we have now. What makes anyone think they're going to obey any future laws or even a gun ban? Criminals are able to buy guns off the black market and anywhere else that'll sell to them. Unless you can find a way to get rid of the black market and other similar things, you won't be able to make a gun ban effective. That's why the gun ban will only punish the law-abiding citizens who have no intention of hurting anybody and do nothing to stop the criminals and the crazies who are the cause of the problem. So essentially, a gun ban will just make the law-abiding citizens a bunch of victims to the criminals because they are not allowed to own a firearm themselves. Therefore, you're not fixing the problem and you're only creating another problem that you'd have to deal with.
