Sleeping problems? How do you deal with it?

I've actually tried counting sheep before. Got to like 1,000 or so before I decided it wasn't really working 🙁

I have counted sheep before as a way to get to sleep. However, when I count them I start imagining how each one is different and my mind ends up drifting off to another random topic. Now I sing song lyrics in my head.

Sometimes I have trouble sleeping, I have more of a problem waking up though than getting to sleep 😛 lol

I use Marijuana for sleeping problems. A big bowl of hash will put me to sleep within minutes everytime without fail.

Ibuprofen PM or the equivalent works for me. If that doesn't work turn off the computer grab a glass of warm milk (yuck), watch some boring TV. You'll be asleep in no time at all. LOL

Anyone here have trouble sleeping? If so, how do you deal with it? Not really suffering from insomnia, but occasionally having troubles getting some nice shuteye.

I had an issue awhile back and the way I would eal with it was to shut off my brainwaves for a few hours. I would close my eyes and then focus on a dot or a pattern my brain created in my eyes(sounds weird) and that helped me.

The solution is not to treat it as a problem at all. I think its been 4 years or so that I have not slept before 12 - I do things when I am not sleepy and when I am, I go to bed automatically. It would also help to have a girlfriend check on you.

I usually take a hot bath or shower with some of my favorite scents that relax me, and if that doesn't work then I will just take Extra Strength Tylenol PM, since usually back pain makes it difficult to sleep.

Just wait a while. Eventually sleeping will get possible. 😛
That is simply not true, for some people like myself who have insomnia. the only way you can get to sleep is through medication and even then you may not stay asleep.

Instead of medication, have you tried meditation? For me, it is thoughts that keep me awake, always. The only way I can begin to fall asleep, is if I can clear the chaotic mess of thoughts floating around in my head every night.

I've had the most success laying on my back, staring far away (even though my eyes are closed) and breathing deeply, relaxing completely while I exhale. After a while I can't feel my legs or arms, and I know sleep is close. At this point I will focus only on breathing; air in, air out, repeat. If I am lucky, I'll drift off about 5 minutes later.

If I lose focus (or anti-focus) at any time during this process, I have to start over. If I break concentration and start thinking about "things I need to do tomorrow", then I'm doomed to a sleepless night.

Can anyone relate?
