Smoking at a young age.

Well, to be clear, I've never smoked.

According to smokers, the a pro is that it is a stress reliever and it's enjoyable.

Tha't what I don't understand. More people are concerned with the problems "caused" by smoking, and yet all of the reports showing scientific evidence of a link between weed and mental health problems are completely ignored.

The public have selective hearing, which is fed by the media. They only read what they want to know.
Yeah... the only reportings done on marijuana are either completely biased (Nixon's famous "let's put gas masks on monkey's and suffocate them with 21 blunts a day!") or about how people who are predisposed to a mental disorder like paranoia may worsen it with pot, which so far seems true, just like LSD or mushrooms do but they aren't considered dangerous.

On the other hand, smoking is the #1 substance killer, killing 450,000 per year in the US alone, trailed by Alcohol at only 100,000. Oh and weed doesn't smell bad, it smells delicious 😛

I know there is, but I don't understand why people ignore weed but rage about tabacco!
Weed doesn't cause cancer.

And mental issues caused from weed are only going to happen in really chronic smokers who do it for years. eg. start at age 13 and smoke like crazy until 40 years old, then yeah, something is going to get messed up.

Sorry, not true.....

As I've said before ...someone I know smoked just one spliff of bad Skunk at an earlier age and they've never been the same ever since

Which means it probably wasn't weed, just like getting a bad pill of ecstasy can screw up your head and eventually kill you, it's not the actual drug itself, only something you'd get from a bad dealer.

Regulating marijuana negates most issues attributed to it, no reason not to tax something, drastically cut gang related violence, and promote personal freedom.

Misstake, the point is, that person smoked bad pot. That wasn't real straight marijuana that your friend smoked and you even said that yourself. If it were legal, that marijuana your friend smoked wouldn't have been like that because it would've been regulated by the government.

Trust me, as someone who frequently debates marijuana with others, and has taken tons of classes and researched the crap out of it, the health argument is simply not a feasible argument. The only argument that hold even any merit in the case of marijuana is that there may be high d rivers, but then again, in California, a state where marijuana is pretty much accessible to anyone legally, there are less drug related traffic accidents than states that have the tightest restrictions on marijuana.

Yeah that's true. Kids who smoke cigs at school are not considered cool like they once were.

They are the idiots at our school 😛

Because I enjoy it.

And there is still evidence to suggest that people smoking weed more than once a week have considerably less memory recollection, paranoia and twitching.
The reason you enjoy it is because you are addicted to it.

I don't mind if young kids smoke. When I was 11, there were girls in my class who went and smoked regularly. It's their body, their life, their choices. Of course adults and other figures can stand up at lectures in school and parents can teach their children that smoking is bad all they want -- but frankly, children will do what they want and will find a way to if they really want to. Even if they grow up with "smoking causes cancer and is really really bad" once they get older and their peers and the media becomes a bigger influence on them, if they want to try it or if they have such a bad resistance to pressure, then they will.

However, if it was my own children who wanted to smoke I wouldn't allow them too (or would do everything in my power to turn them against doing it themselves). I say and believe that for no reason other than I think that if you do it in public it can annoy people. And I remember being in public once with a friend who had really bad asthma (or maybe it wasn't asthma -- I don't remember exactly what it was) and it triggered something and she started choking and had to go to a hospital. (Personally, I like the smell of smoke but don't like smoking in itself).

A small few of you (mainly staff) may know that I'm a smoker. I'm 17, and have been smoking since I was 10.

I smoke around 20-30 cigarettes a day, then odd cigar and sheesha when my friends come round.
My parents accept and allow it. The majority of my income goes out on smoking so I'm nearly always broke. Except just now, I got $12 into my paypal through my Bux site whilst typing this.

Either way;

I'm interested to see how people feel about young smokers. Never really got round to asking anybody.
That is not normal.

(I'm the same age as you.) But our class "drug addict" (a guy known for his drug addition) wouldn't smoke that much! That's crazy

I'll say I've always enjoyed the fresh smell of smoke in the summer air, always soothing. Don't smoke tobacco myself, not my thing.

Smoking at a young age is bad. That's all I can say.

I have been smoking since I was 14, I am at 16 now... soon to be 17 on may 2nd. Been smoking for 3 years... im very much addicted to it. I smoke pall mall lights 100's

As a smoker for a long a time. All i can say is think twice before you get involved. It's something you can just stop when you want too.As far as being to young thats really a parental issue.I say if you can buy them on your own then thats a plus

I tried it but never got into it. Didn't enjoy it.
Similar here, cigarettes never really enticed me, although I used to enjoy smoking them I don't think I have in the past year and a half.

wow man! I've never smoked and never will. Haven't you seen those hideous commercials (mainly one with the old lady with a hole in her throat). A person I know from school smokes pot. He comes to school high too.

It's important to note the differences between pot and tobacco. One kills 450,00 in the US alone a year, the other 0. Try multiplying that person x 100 and it'll give you a more accurate amount of pot smokers in your school. A lot of them you wouldnt expect.
