Socialism vs. Capitalism

The Libertarians in the United States seem to focus more on economic issues than social issues in my opinion. I'm a social libertarian.

Yes, Libertarians quite often have weird opinions on some things, but I agree with them on 80% of things. Marijuana is not one of the issues I agree with them on.
Why?

I have no problem with weed being legalized. It will bring down the crime rate and organized crime. Plus, the government can tax the hell outta it. I won't be doing the doobie anyway, so it really doesn't matter anyway.

It will also reduce the amount of people on weed, as most only start it to "stick it to the man."

If american citizens can't even get jobs, I don't think we need anyone from mexico coming in.

as I always say, the american capitalist system is open source. They don't have to swim through the gulf of mexico to enjoy capitalism.
You bring up a point I must comment on. Its not that they cannot get jobs, its because they think they are to good for certain jobs and those are the jobs mexicans work in.

Hell I know a few high class people lost their job around here and could easily get a job. But nope they rather sit on their assess and let everything they have go bye bye.

See the difference between the great depression and today is back then there were really no jobs. Today there are quite alot, but people are to snuck up to get a lower paying job.

Why? Is there a reason the government should limit what we do to our own body? I'm for the legalization of all narcotic substances, but that's another matter.

Anyone who wants socialism has never lived in a socialist or former socialist country IMO.

Why do oyu think DUI is illegal? People who are addicted to low-level drugs will only move up to more dangerous drugs. Marijuana is a gateway drug to others. And, like with DUI, people on drugs can commit crimes, say, killing a drug-dealer to get drugs for free.

The only reason marijuana can be considered a gate way drug is because it's illegal. If it was legal it wouldn't be sold to you by shady people who also may be selling heroin and who may have you "try" their other products.

Also, around 1 in every 104 marijuana users use crack, and even less use heroin. Not really good stats for the "gateway" theory. (Can source if needed)

And if weed was legal, it would be much more safe. You know how many dealers cut their weed with rat poison? Tons.

Rat poison? Haven't heard that one before, but grit weed is a problem in some places, used to be a huge one in England and some parts of the states.

I consider my self an American...Reagan Conservative if you must have a label.

To quote Margaret Thatcher:

"The problem with Socialism is sooner or later you run out of other peoples money."

The only country that is really surviving with Socialism or Communism is China and that is with the help of Capitalism. You can set here and argue this one until you're blue in the face but the fact of the matter is the U.S. is one of the wealthiest but youngest countries in the world. This was done through Capitalism and at an astonishing rate of speed. China is another example of how capitalism works. Their ability to add Capitalism to their system has made them a very wealthy country as well.

Then you look at countries like Berlin and Russia who used Socialism. The world got a first hand look at just how great socialism is when the Berlin wall fell down. The people were starving to death! If you really think Socialism is all that great, why don't you experiment by living a couple of years in a country that has had the system in place for decades and see if you still like it.

The people supporting Socialism are generations of kids being raised by socialist schools and teachers. They brain washed you to believe America is evil and that some paper written 200+ yrs ago is out dated blah. Don't you people ever ask your self why does some other country with failed political philosophies is so interested in tearing up that old piece of paper? Or can you no longer think for your self and simply follow the crowd...one by one jumping off a bridge? Are you now nothing more than a robot or what we call zombies?

@Above:

There's no thing as pure socialism, so every socialist country has assistance of capitalism.

And the reason the US is wealthy? Loans from socialist countries.

Read my above post.

Berlin was a city. Lay off the magic mushroom. And Russia wasn't Russia, it was the USSR. The USSR contained Russia, Ukrane, the -stans, Lithuania, et al.

The people were starving to death!
And no people in capitalist countries were?

What are you smoking? If anything, schools teach, "America = GOOD. Democracy = GOOD. Other countries = BAD."

And why have so many countries with capitalistic beliefs failed? There's a reason everybody hates America.

The reason we're wealthy is because of capitalism. The reason we can fund socialism is because we borrow money from socialist countries.

Citystatic was insinuating that the reason why we have a rich private sector is because the public sector borrows money from china.

Error. Does not compute.

And, Citystatic, I'd like a list of these failed capitalist societies, because I have a list of failed socialist ones. At the top of my list is Greece.
