Software Conversions. Bad or Good?

Personally I wouldn't do it. The change will be disruptive to the community and there is a risk that something will go wrong during the conversion.
Why not sell an ad slot, to cover the licence renewal? Or perhaps ask for donations from your members?

Takes more then just a nice theme to keep members happy on a new software though. If they don't like the overall feel of the software being used they aren't going to stick around just because the theme is nice.

Given the volume of posts on your forum, I'm pretty confident that you could earn $25 from advertising every six months. For example it shouldn't be difficult to sell six month button ads or no-follow text links at $10 or more each.theezy said:
