Spudster Custom Mybb Theme

This can mean i can apply a darker theme for example and the forum may still be successful depending on unique content?
Yes. It doesn't matter if the theme is dark or light, as long as it isn't horrible and you got great unique content you will get members.

Ive moved the forum onto my localhost while i work on it still in beta so no one can access it yet 😀

Took A Snapshot of the theme before give me comments if that's horrible or good enough (for a webmaster forum)

Feedback will help us though the development stages.

Honestly, I've never seen a truly good theme for MyBB, unless it was custom made lol. Don't bother trying to find a good theme until Mybb 2.0 is released. I suggest learn CSS before trying to theme rather than just changing colors...

Thanks, Going to work on some more things we should be ready to launch live this saturday

I have school & Uni and other real life issues to deal with aswill that's why we have a small delay.

That entirely depends on how you define "good". 🙂

There are lot of good free themes for MyBB.

Sorry to sound rude but I feel you shouldn't be running an admin forum if you're asking that question. :\

Why not try out something else you love and have more knowledge in?

Only reason im asking is the word FREE means mybb wouldnt be as good and most admin forums are using*paid* Software.

Just saying, paid software doesn't make it better. vBulletin and XenForo are two of the most SQLi and XSS vulnerable softwares out there, paid and unpaid.

XenForo is one of the most secure software out there, I have not heard of a single hacking that was due to the actual software.

vBulletin maybe, but not XenForo.

Maybe you haven't, but I feel we both socialize in rather different circles of people with far different interests.

Forum software will never make a site success. Its how unique the site is and how good the admin is, decides the success.

I had run multiple forums powered by MyBB in the past. But i had never got hacked.

One of the biggest hacking (or the biggest?) forum runs on MyBB. I'm sure he gets tons of hacking attempts. But he rarely gets hacked.

Yup, Hack Forums is the worlds largest hacking forum and people attempt to hack the website daily, but he is a damn good programmer and has been working with MyBB for the great half of a decade, so he knows how it works.

I have seen Hackforums get hacked on multiple occasions, The latest LuzSec released the whole user/password part of the database.

That was the only major hacking and they were not the ones behind it, though they gladly took credit for it. No forum is unhackable, no website it. I know someone who continually has hacked Facebook, Google, Apple, Microsoft, Myspace, Yahoo, Java, and many other major websites. In the grand scheme of things, no forum software has the same levels of security as multi-billion dollar websites.

I'm not arguing with that, I know there are very clever people out there that can find a way into most websites. But seeing as I frequent the XenForo forums and have never seen a report of any vulnerablities apart from something that spams the admin email that was fixed months ago so I think you may have been mistaken, yeah vBulletin I agree with that.. vB is one of the most vunerable forum software available. Either way if you do know of any XenForo vunerabilites you should report them ASAP. 🙂

lol. Its not another free vs paid or xenforo vs MyBB. 😀

What i said to Spudster is, choice of software won't make a site better. The thing why Spudster seems to hate MyBB is because his forum got hacked often. But the thing is, there are lot of big MyBB boards out there, so if the hacker found a vulnerability with MyBB, he would have targeted the big boards like HF instead of Spudster's forum. Its probably because he is not using a good password for his Cpanel, or use vulnerable plugins. He used to use plugins like My tabs, a chatbox, etc; both of which have known vulnerability then.
So he should concentrate on security than blaming forum software.

Make passwords which have nothing to do with you; have uppercase letters, numbers and even things like #*+= in them and make sure you don't add heaps of mods which could cause in security risks.
