So this is something that I have not seen here, and I'm quite curious as to how many of you guys hold staff meetings with your mods and admins. 😱

How many of you hold staff meetings, and how exactly do you go about doing that? I would assume timezones are a tad hard to combat, so do you choose staff in or around the same timezones as you so you can hold meetings?

I don't hold meetings on my forums, I just tend to start a topic in the staff section and then leave them up to discuss back and forth then.

I don't do 'em on my board, because time-zones and they're kinda useless TBH. (for my board)

I have, however, participated in staff chats on many boards.

I don't do them on my forum for the same reason above but I have also participated in some on other forums.

I have a staff skype chat, which we usually discuss everything. However we also post things in the staff room for those who aren't able to be on skype. 🙂 Haven't actually TIMED a staff meeting. 😛

I've never done it but I surely don't have anything against doing it either. We just usually keep everything in the Staff forum but I think it's a great idea. It builds relationships with your staff.

I will not usually do staff meetings. Sometimes, I'll bring up a topic, wait for everyone to respond and then we resolve the topic(s). This makes sure everyone gets a chance to talk about what they think about the matter.

I'm a fan of Skype. Skype chats are a great way to quickly communicate with staff. I've been on a staff team where we did Google Hangouts (which were always fun), with whoever wanted to do a call that specific night, it wasn't mandatory by any means though.

I haven't ever had an actual meeting due to time zone differences, availability, etc.. but we do have a Skype group.

Like others have mentioned I imagine getting everyone together at the same time may be difficult due to the fact that everyone may be in different time zones. It seems rather redundant to have discussions in a staff board AND hold separate meetings to discuss important matters. I think that's why Staff boards are so important so that everyone on the staff team can chime in their thoughts at their leisure.

We used to have them on Skype, and I'd like to pick them back up eventually. Unfortunately, timezones and real life commitments make that harder than it actually looks. xD We do discuss things on the forums as an alternative though, sorta focusing on one thing at a time rather than a million different things at once.

I think I might do it once I actually got a staff team. At the moment it's just me and Teapot, making a simple Facebook chat much more efficient.

I never really cared for staff meetings seeing as everyone's up to par on everything every day it would seem on the more active forums.

Sounds really complicated to set one up and actually run it. The staff section is enough, I think. Any new changes or suggestions discussed can be posted there, and the staff are free to provide input when they have the time. Does anyone actually hold these sorts of meetings? reminds me of jobs and such. 😛

Unfortunately, it's really hard to hold actual--scheduled--meetings with staff members of forums. Generally, everyone is from a different part of the country and possibly in different countries. So, that means, everyone is in a different time zone. Hence, it's too difficult to hold official staff meetings. Instead, we use a staff board and Skype chat.

No such thing for me. I just individually message each of my staff members to get their input. Different parts of the world and priorities take place.

Right now, it's just me running my community which does get lonely. When I was running a SMF forum, I had one other Mod. And basically we are contacted quite a bit using steam, KIK for mobile and skype plus gaming together.

Since I changed software and became so busy that I haven't spoken to him in a month or more and he's made a decision to not be a moderator.

I usually use Skype group chats, imessage, or kik for staff

I personally don't hold any type of staff meetings. If I need to speak to staff members of the forum, I do so on PM or via-the staff only boards. However, I run a chat box on most of my forums - if there was a way to create a private chat box for staff members, meetings could be a 'beta' thing and all. I can see where it would be beneficial to get staff opinions right away but a thread would probably do just as well.

KIK apps are good way, like you are out and something happen, so one of the staff can type or voice call you right away
