Good. Now watch the rest of it. Today, if possible! π

I may enjoy SAO as an anime but I really would think twice before playing any VRMMORPG released in the future because of this anime. XD

Spoilers up to end of season 2
Season 2 part 2 includes the New Aincrad, which was added into ALO. So, they could add more Aincrad stuff without the die-in-the-game-die-in-real-life element. It's also possible, though, for them to add content which fits into the timeline in the middle of season 1 part 1, although the problem with that is that Kirito and Asuna weren't on good terms until ~Floor 73, so there isn't too much room there to involve all the characters. EDIT: correction - floor ~57, so there is room. From floors 57-74 Asuna and Kirito's relationship is not greatly explored, although it's clear they never teamed up. Also, the anime's creators could release a season covering a different set of characters as the main characters, with Asuna and Kirito popping in.
I was also hoping that the Laughing Coffin guy would be someone from the first story arc, especially since they were flashing through all of the faces of people Kirito had met, which means they kind of implied it. I guess the third death gun was never arrested, although the characters probably know his SAO username from his real name, so no real room for surprises there.
I was glad to see more Asuna in Season 2 part 2. That was a very good story arc.
On the subject of a third season, they left a hanging plot thread at the end of the last episode of season 2. Kirito was just about to ask Asuna a favor when he was interrupted.
Sometimes I think we get to see more side characters than necessary. Especially when I saw the romance part with Asuna, I kinda regret why we didn't see more of their interactions in previous floors or at least a more detailed Asuna's background before they got together.
I also enjoyed Asuna's arc, even better than GGO, haha. Even the short filler session of getting Excalibur was quite fun. I'd be happy to see more exploration like that in third season, if there is any.
You're probably right about the minor characters. π I think the purpose of some of the episodes before and right after the safe zone murder were to explore the cleared floors a little bit before the story focused on the front lines.
So far, not too much. The beginning of the first novel is kind of a third-person overview of Aincrad. There were a few details which were left out or glossed over. The most interesting details so far which weren't in the anime have been about the immediate aftermath of Kayaba's announcement in between episodes 1 and 2. After the prologue, chapter 1 is the scene where Kirito defeats a lizardman monster on floor 74 by first running away from it, then attacking. This was in the anime, although probably in around episode 6. Then, the narrative goes immediately to the scene where Kirito and Klein are fighting the boar on day 1.
It's definitely most memorable part of the whole SAO season II. We get to see another character leading the arc and the overall plot of the arc is good. I must say it was more enjoyable than GGO for me, heh. *runs before Sinon shoots her*
I feel like the whole Sleeping Knights arc was rushed. I would have loved to see a whole season dedicated to a few more adventures and explorations into the other Sleeping Knight's characters. Maybe we'll see that in SAO III. π
There is no official news from MyAnimeList. But there is a lot of speculation that we will be getting a third season because the popularity of the series is still good and there are still enough content to be made into an anime. Just no information about date yet.
How I wish I'm still alive the day they release it! I would really love to wear the Nerve Gear and kick some simulated monster's A** with my simulated sword skills! Wishful thinking!
I thought it would be a new anime announced again. Nice to see it getting so many adaptations; it shows how powerful and popular the novel is, wow.

I have only seen up to midway of Season 1. I can't sit and watch it for long periods of time so I then forget whats happened and have to start it again :/
I heard they are making a game of it? that will be awesome.
