I know that the thread title sounds boring, but oh well.

I think that America (and probably other countries too) should have a flat tax. This would mean that the government takes x percent of everyone's income equally and nothing else. That would be the only tax in existence, a flat tax rate at about 15%, give or take 5 percent. The reasoning:

  • People would not be taxed a higher percentage for innovation. This would mean that if you make more money you keep more money.
  • Tax code is so damn confusing. We need a simple tax code, not a complex one where almost everything is taxed. You pay the government x percent of your income. Nothing else!
  • It'd make people get up off of their rear ends and actually do something with their lives.
  • People with more money than others -- I'm talking small business owners -- would have more money to invest into their business.

As things are right now, you have to ask The Man for permission for everything business related. We need less taxation and less red tape to make things simpler.

Republicans are doing so well to create jobs and save the workingman in this terrible economic time!

How is this relevant?
"$8.7 billion"
Plus the 5 billion.

=

3.15% of the NJ GDP of 434B (Which has likely gone down since this estimate was made in 2006)
You tell that to the people who aren't getting jobs and are without work and not able to feed their families.

So we take 3.15% of the ENTIRE ECONOMY of a STATE and use it to produce less jobs than a business could with that amount of money. Nice.

Tax policy under me:
Taxes on drugs.
Tariffs.
A VAT.
Constitutional Limit of 6% income tax.

Please try to stay relatively on topic and discuss being taxed rather than the job situation, Thanks 😉

There's no guarantee that a business would create such an amount of jobs though. There's no proof nor is there any type of assurance. In these times we need to take what we can get, not make stupid political statements about saving tax dollars.

People don't need to be taxed more, government needs to spend less.

Yes. 800 billion is a lot better. What do you think we can cut things and reduce our country into a dying old man state in order to just get a surplus again? Cutting things out of the national defense is vital here. We spend way too much god damn money on it for no reason. I'm not saying don't spend anything, but a good 10 percent of the money that goes there can be terminated.

I suggest we roll back everything which was passed by the 111th congress.

How about roll back everything after Bush became president? No more no child left behind, no more patriot act, no more middle east war spending.. man we'd have quite the surplus now if it weren't for that bullshit.

Irviding you're crazy. All of those things are vital to American values. Pfft. What next? Legalize pot?
