Thinking about making a social network

Ok will i may aswill be honest I no longer whant to run forums
So what projects do i work on in the mean time

Exactly.. What a commitment.

I wrote a post to you days ago about your commitmet.

Now if you release a forum, one month old gaining 100 posts per day, i won't join.

Because i will know you will close that forum. (you changed niches how many times?)

Go undercover, in 5-10 years register with a new username and make yourself seem professional... Yes i am watching Burn Notice right now.

Ok,And it doesent mean i would close A Website down
Just forums but one day i will choose A New Username

You won a $50 bet. 😀

@Spudster:
I once PM'ed you advising not to switch forums often, else it would create a bad opinion about you.
Well, you haven't followed it even a bit.
You aren't ready to run a site/forum. Take your time, read some articles, finish college as "yehya" said, and return back.
Don't take it as an offense, but you need to be more mature while running a Forum. A forum won't become success in a day.

And yeah! I bet FP will be there after 5 years, because its admins know the meaning of commitment.

You reminded me!!!

YEAH..

Easy money!
Pay up yo!

Great idea i think i wasted one year on my forum
Anyway,I think i will take a few years learn php then return with a bigger website

I don't know what to say other than this thread killed my brain cells.

If there's anything to take from this, Spudster, it is to keep up with learning programming because if you really want to develop web applications then it is a good place to start. Also, take your ventures seriously. Don't shoot for the moon in one shot and make your projects small, manageable, and feasible and build upon those.

That's about all I can say on the matter.

You said via profile comments you have been programming for two years. Show us what you've got then.

Exactly, which brings back to my 1st question, "You think you can code the world with PHP?"

Don't think about starting in 6 months, more like after you finish college get some money and then start.

All I can say is, you're an idiot. I can easily code a social network with extremely limited knowledge. Anyone can, you hardly need to understand PHP, with softwares like this, it's good to understand the connection between PHP and MySQL, just understanding those connections can make it so someone with no knowledge of PHP, can attempt it. I made my first profile code with PHP with a few months knowledge. Give him a break, 6 months experience is more than enough to accomplish what he wants to do.

Joey when you've known him for a while you'll see that he'll give up on coding next month, people like you actually will dedicate some time to your projects.

@Spudster Seriously I left the unprofessional overambitious phase when I was 10, you need to learn some spelling and grammar, and start with small hopes then when you succeed them, think bigger and so on and who knows one day you might fulfil this goal but first you need to learn the basics.

Yeah! You can create a social network script using basic knowledge of PHP. But he wants to compete with Facebook, and for that, basic knowledge won't help.

Yeah im going to compete agsiasnt facebook so i will need lots of php kbowledge which i am currently learning

And i made a login script http://nintendoaddict.tk/social/users/ But when i create a new column in the users table why does it denie registration but when I leave the table out everything goes back to normal
How could i fix this (Im inserting a table for members ids)

Hmm. You would need atleast some basic knowledge of HTML first. First of all, your login.html file don't have body, don't have title, and the form isn't ending properly.

Learn HTML first.

Wrong page buddy.his login is located in the "main.php" file, and what he means by inserting tables has nothing to do with HTML, he means to insert the MemberID when they register in the users table.

Huh. I know its in main.php, and i do know inserting Tables have nothing to do with HTML. What i said is, he must learn atleast the basics of HTML.
Learning PHP without even knowing HTML makes things even worse.

I thought about downloading Oxwall.com if i did and modified the script to make it look unique would it be still possible to still compete agaisnt facebook?
