Have you noticed how V.I.Ps on forums these days are often very undeserving of their rank?
A few days ago i was approached by someone from the FreeForums community on msn - they mentioned they were about to start up a new forum and wanted to know if i would be a V.I.P before it opened.
Needless to say i was shocked, i asked the user "Under what grounds would you like me to be a V.I.P?" and they replied with "You're a good member".
Firstly, how could i be a "Good member" of a forum that hasn't even opened yet, and secondly how could i have been "Very Important" again on a forum that hasn't opened yet.
My conclusion is the V.I.P rank isn't what it used to be. I see it as a way of Admins (of new boards) to score some extra active members. I don't mean to criticize anyone here, but most of the V.I.P's on this forum would be more deserving of a "Retired Staff" rank, as opposed to a "Very Important Member".
What are your thoughts on the whole "V.I.P" situation?
