If the election for president were being held today, and the candidates were Donald Trump & Hillary Clinton for whom would you vote?

Just a note
This thread is different to John's as all you have to do is vote for your candidate.

Tricky, but I'd vote for Hill dog! 😀 These are my two favorite candidates though, and I wouldn't mind either.

I wouldn't vote if it's between those two candidates. I'll vote for Gary Johnson if he throws his hat in the ring.

Do you have a preference though? 😱

I voted for Gary Johnson in 2012. I used to be a libertarian (still have a membership card in my wallet) but aren't really anymore. I think Johnson would still be a good President though. He isn't too radical I don't think.

I don't like either one of them to be honest. I just don't trust them. It's politicians like them, that make a farce out of our system. Johnson, and some of the other third party candidates, have a lot of more sensible ideas but unfortunately the two party duopoly has it rigged against them. We have to go all the way back to Ross Perot in 1992 to see an independent candidate who had a legitimate shot at the presidency.

If Trump runs third party, he might actually have a shot. 😛 Don't think he'd win on a third party ticket though.

About politicians being untrustworthy: I sometimes wonder about that. It seems hard for me to believe that all of them are as bad as the media makes them out to be. I know a good number of people who work for the government, and most of them are honest, good intentioned, and patriotic, even if they are a bit weird. 😛 Surely politicians can't be that bad. I think they're just pros at making each other look really bad. And I can't really blame them for making their rivals look bad. If you want to win, that's what you have to do. The problem may just be that everyone ends up looking bad after all the insults are hurled. xD

Even with politicians that hold beliefs that seem really unpalatable to me, I wonder if they're just appealing to a crowd. That, too, I can understand. It's just how business works. You try and make your customer happy (in this case, the voter), you make out your competition to look bad, and you make yourself look good. If someone's really good at doing that, I do my best to recognize and respect their skill. 😛 But that's just me I guess.

#Hillary2016, though I think Bernie would be equally qualified to be President; though, I really don't see him winning the nomination.

I don't think Sanders could win the general election either unfortunately. He just doesn't have the money behind him. :|

Sanders is actually beating all Republicans in hypothetical match-up polls, some by wider margins than Hillary Clinton.

If Clinton gets the nomination, I'll be voting for Jill Stein again. Hillary Clinton is pretty much a Republican.

In what way is she a republican? She has a hawkish position on national security, but many democrats and republicans both hold that type of position. I think overall, both parties have similar views on foreign policy at the moment, at least the leadership.

Hillary Clinton has more in common with Republicans for many reasons. She feels a $15/hour minimum wage is too high, for example. She is also an enthusiastic supporter of the war on drugs, is soft on the banks, etc. There really are hardly any liberals left in the Democratic party; the United States is a one-party state masquerading as a two-party state. Even Bernie Sanders, while I would definitely consider him a liberal, is still a very mild social democrat by European standards.

Politicians compromise. 😛 Otherwise, nothing can be done. If 50% of politicians were die-hard republicans and 50% were die-hard democrats, we couldn't even function as a nation. Just because she leans towards the center doesn't mean she's a republican or anything. It just means she's the kind of leader that is willing to make compromises in order to get things done. That seems fair to me. If you stand to your principles on everything, then you'll just be labeled an extremist. You won't be able to get any of your goals achieved, when if you compromised, you could get half of them done.

If those two are the nominees, you'll see a very high percentage of voters that are voting third party.

Let's see.. Since this is the debate corner I'll give my two cents on all the facts I have gathered over news articles, history, etc.

Let's start with the main course which is Trump. He has a lot of good ideals and has the passion to do them I applaud him for that, but he doesn't seem very mature at times. If he gets the nomination the only reason I would vote for him is because I rather have him over Hillary or Bernie.

Now let's talk about the two hot topic Dem's. Between Hillary and Bernie where should I start..

Bernie who is a socialist and enjoys promoting free, this and that. Well let me be absolutely realisitic with you. Socialism throughout history has never worked out and can lead to communism. If this was a perfect world it probably could be ideal, but it isn't. People have to learn to be independent not be given things for free. We already have so many people that don't do anything and get free money from the government that live off welfare and majority of them don't deserve it. It is a inperfect system that is extremely abused by many that pulls down the middle class.

Then you have all the unmarried couples who have children that get $1,000s per child and then you have the married couple with children that don't get any benefits whatsoever because they are married, really?

I believe in taxing the rich higher and lowering taxes for the middle and low class citizen's to make a stronger more independent people than people that take advantage and abuse others for their own selfishness. Bernie ideals would bankrupt this country and put us in a bottomless pit we'll never be able to crawl out of. So no I wouldn't vote for someone who thinks the way he does.

Hillary ... I personally don't mind having a woman president but any woman but her. She continues to be with a man who cheated her in his previous presidency and always lies. Unless a lot of people here forgot about the email server crap she just continuesly lies and it is so obvious if you listen to videos of how she talks about it. She is extremely flawed and only in it for her own benefit than the benefit for US citizens.

People need to realize being elected in a position of power in a country like the US isn't mainly about leading it is about serving 'We the People' and making this a strong independent nation. Our independance is what makes this nation strong. The realization and apperciation of working for what you have is great. You don't own anything if it's "handed" to you all your life through abused taxes and welfare.

The only person with real ideals I rather vote for is either Ted or Ben Carson (Ben Carson mostly if he got it, but most likely not).

I won't lie that not all politics are innocent of deception though. Ted did lie about Ben dropping out to get votes in Iowa to beat Trump. So a lot of deception has happen. On who I think of may change once nominations are in order who is going to be the Republic and Dem nominee, but so far whoever is Republican must win in my opinion not Hillary or Bernie. I don't want a liar and I don't want someone who will financially destroy this nation. No just no there is absolutely no logic or justification for those two to be in office.

I agree with that. I agree with what the majority of what Trump says. He just doesn't have the best way of saying things.

Agreed completely there. Especially on the part about Socialism.

I agree with the first two paragraphs. I'm honestly not a fan of Cruz; which is weird, considering I'm a Christian who believes in small government. Cruz just seems to me like a liar. He markets himself as a "Consistent Conservative"; but he has a pretty mid-tier background, I think. He's also lied about Ben Carson (which really irked me). I just can't bring myself to want to vote for another politician. Why I like Trump and Carson is because they've made it in the private sector. With Cruz especially; he's done nothing privately. This makes me think he can't understand my actual concerns as a middle-class American. I'd support Carson in a second if he was the one who got the nomination. He's a really honest guy.

In the end my voting will go like this: Carson > Trump > Rubio > Cruz > 3rd Party.

Yah thats why I said mostly Carson. lol I have not heard much from Rubio probably because I been focusing to much on the "big players" I guess. So i'll admit that fault. 😛
