VOTE!! Which Forum Software Is Better?

We are on about the basic design and structure - I was meaning more towards that than skins, hell the most talented person in the world could make the first ever Bulletin Board installation sexy as anything -razz- I don't rate with phpBB or vB for their structure but phpBB is slightly easier in my opinion. Although tbh, you are a vB user, you are bound to fight to death and protect your precious software package, most vB users do -razz- I just don't like the way vB works and all.

I'm not a vB user. None of my forums are on vB. I just used it on previous forums and I'm a registered member on many vB forums. And as far as I know about vB, it's certainly much better than phpBB. Everybody here protects phpBB and calls it better because well, 90% of the people here use phpBB.

Well surely if loads of people use it then it must be good and fits peoples needs? If SMF or Mybb is as good and fits peoples needs as you say why isn't there loads of people using them softwares? Why is it that not many free hosts offering them? Maybe because there is more demand for phpBB because they prefer it and find it better for them.

For me it would be phpbb because it has so many modifications and so many styles, the your forum can be so unique. They are also a very user friendly company.

I don't know about anyone else but PHPBB3 for me. I find it simple and quick. I like the tabbed style and its much tidier then vBulliten i found.

Irrelevant to the topic, the topic asks which forum software is better out of the two not which forum software is the best.

phpBB - It is the better software.

Quick run down list of why:

-Much larger Community / Support
-Over a million other admins using it
-Number of MODs and extreme customization (Bittorrent tracker MOD, DNTemples' domain system, ect)
-Open Source

vB lacks in all those areas. I can't / won't count the admins using a cracked copy of vB, which lowers their total number of admins greatly ~wink~

Not really, as the question asks which forum software you prefer as a user of a forum, not an administrator.

Cloverfield I am sure EVERYONE on this board promoting their phpBB forum knows what its like to be both. I am sure everyone does (pretty much.)

It is just asking as a user and what functionality is open to the USER what the USER prefers. ~cheesey_grin~

Well obviously ForumPromotion.net is a phpBB forum, so people here are going to use phpBB as well. Or maybe they haven't ever tried another software other than phpBB. Either way, if we all head to a vB forum or an SMF forum, you'll find that 90% of the users there use that forum platform.
