Just got this email from demand progress:

Ever sent someone a link to a copyrighted YouTube video? Of course: Everybody has. And now the US Government seems to think that means it can put us in prison.

Bryan McCarthy ran a website, channelsurfing.net, that linked to various websites where you could watch online streams of TV shows and sports networks. A couple months ago, the government seized his domain name and just today they arrested him for criminal copyright infringement.

Tell the government that this is crazy: There's nothing wrong or illegal about sharing a link.

The government doesn't even allege he made a copy of anything! Just that his site linked to various sites with copyrighted material. Under that sort of thinking, everyone who's sent around a link to a copyrighted YouTube video is a criminal.

This is another shocking overreach by the department of Immigrations and Customs Enforcement (ICE) -- a steamship-era department that's proving once again it doesn't understand the Internet.

We need to push back -- and fast -- before they try to lock up all Americans. Click here to tell ICE to drop its charges.

Yeah, they'll only be able to stop a handful of incidents at a time. There's no way they'll be able to stop EVERYONE from doing it. Especially since sites like YouTube are overly popular. If YouTube was a brand-new site, with only some people checking it out, then they all could probably be stopped, depending on how many people would be viewing it as a brand-new site, but not when it's got that many guests/members posting and viewing videos all the time!

I wouldn't be one bit surprised if that were true. No matter what a person's occupation is, we've all shared video links to favorite or helpful videos at one time or another.

I hope the judge will be fair to this dude since he seems to be treated unfairly by ICE and the US Gov.

I wonder if ICE will go after people who send links to copyrighted content via instant messengers, e-mail, written notes or verbally.

Yehya, yes the NSA does listen in on all calls, texts, and emails via a supercomputer that tags keywords and will flag calls then humans will go back and listen/read the message and decide if it is a thread. For example, if you say obama bomb terrorist march 17th 2011 and dirty all in the same call, it will be flagged. But then they will listen to it and see you are just messing with them, but oh well that's what happens when they listen to our calls.

i knew that, but i disagree with 1 thing
if you say any of the words you mentioned, obama, bomb, terrorist, etc. in any call it gets registered... not only if you say them together
