About maybe one year ago, anyone who was into promotion forums knew that promotion forums used to be the big trend and you always saw them popping up. But in maybe the last four or five months, I've noticed more, and more web hosting websites pop-up for selling. Why is that?

I agree Cody, It was promotion forums, and now its hosting.. its annoying to see 5 year olds run hosts which will barely last.

I'm a little ways away from being 5 years old. I'm 18. Will be 19 this August with almost 2 years experience in Web-Hosting.

lol I dont mean you, I mean people who have no experience at all... 🙂

I have daily discussions on msn about "new web hosts" starting up. But yer "most" hosts are under like 18 and they are only doing it because some one else is doing it. And this place is just that. A place to copy some one else because they can.

They also forget that the fact "They wont get any clients straight away" and hoping for profit in the first few days is stupid because it don't work like that. I went nearly 3 months of no clients before i started to get any because i advertised like mad. Not only here but other websites, word of mouth etc..

Then when they don't have enough clients or anyone at all and the hosting bill comes in they close it because they cant afford to pay it for being under 18 and not working. I could list many more things but i wont. All i can say is "Dont create a host because some one else is and you think your going to make cash straight away and be a lot better"

Because they can create what they wish.

I think that people that do not know how to run them shouldn't I have seen a lot lately coming up and going down due to bad spelling, incorrect WHMCS licences, non working auto setups, non working billing, bad website layouts, ect.

The people that know how to do it all can and will do it, I do not know why people that have NO idea what they are doing even try.

I didnt want to mention it but you said it. The recent host that popped up cant even spell Guarantee correctly and yet they Guarantee their hosting as reliable? lol.

LOL! I saw that site, too.

I mean, some young people can do it. But just because you can do it, doesn't mean you should. That's like having access to get a loan from a bank. Your not going to do it, unless you need to. Well, I don't see a reason why you'd need to make a web host. But you guys get my point, haha.

I think the lack of knowledge about hosting has created this boom of new hosts. Managing hosts is not something you can read through a manual overnight; you need to know what you're doing, have certain skillsets, eg. with the technical side of things, and be able to spend more than you gain in the first year.

Don't expect to make a profit in the first year, or even 2. I think many are under the assumption that people will buy their low cost hosting, and be with them forever, paying them monthly without bother.

You need to have money to start a host, not $10, you need at least $750 for the first year to spend, and even then, that may not be enough. Think of buying several dedicated servers, advertising, a good billing system (WHMCS), a good user panel (cPanel) and 24/7 technical support.

I'd expect most of the new hosts will oversell or go bust before the end of February. This almost happened when I was with Web Hosting Fox, but we managed to survive that and they are now 18 or so months old (2009). It shows that new hosts can survive, but at least WHF, had a decent supply of money, good technicians and decent marketing.

And not only web hosting sites, it is pretty hard and time-consuming to be successful with any kind of site.

A host can last as long as their wallet lasts. 😉 But to have a good QUALITY host, it takes time and money and knowledge.

I don't use brand new hosts. They have no reputation and history to give them any credibility.

Every host started somewhere. HostGator started somewhere and now look at it. It all depends on the owners reputation and their skill.

Thats true but a typical customer would rather purchase hosting from a reputable established company. This is why it takes years for a host to become successful.
This is probably why the start-up hosts fail as well. They end up spending more than profiting, they cant afford to keep dumping money into something that is giving them no returns and showing no signs of bringing in any returns.

True, I must agree. But I have already got enough clients to cover my bill. So I don't really have any worries about it. Even if I did have to pay out of pocket, I have a nice paying job to back it up.

But it just takes true dedication to make one be successful.

Also, Chris.
Nice new design, looks a lot better, I must say.
