This is an idea of a thread I've had in my mind for a while, so here it is. Basically state what different websites you have promoted your forum in.

For me, I have promoted my forum in quite a lot of places... they are YouTube, DeviantArt, Infinite Results, Forum Advertiser, LP (Let's Play) Forums, ChitChatter, and here of course 🙂

Not may places besides here. Maybe FA and TAZ if I think about it? Fact is promotion forums are next to useless if you want long-time members.

Oh I thought you meant promotion forums.
Many directories, RockWorldEast.com, Metal-archives.com, Disturbed1.com, Myspace, Twitter.

I try to do it on high traffic sites with a pagerank. Otherwise it won't do me much good.

Actually, a lot of people visit that forum, and lots of different links are posted there in the section they have.

Crash, I believe you have posted about it on YAP as well 😉
Huh? I'm not even on that site...

No no. I meant any website, promotion sites or not 😛

Hmm, Thought it would be you because the member was named Crash but nevermind xD

Forumpromotion, YouTube, Deviant Art, numerous smaller forums, etc. The best results I got was a paid ad on planetrenders.net. Brought me hundreds of visitors but still recieved only a few forums visitors though.

There's another person in your forum named Crash? Odd... but it definitely wasn't me 😛

MSN messenger works great too.
I once promoted my forum on my personal message on MSN but it didn't work out... as I've only got a few contacts 😕

Yeah, i got a fair amount of traffic from it, and a few members too.

A lot of other forums with a sig link, submitted to some directories, word of mouth and asking people directly seems to be the best starting out anyway.

I usually promote my forum, via signature, on forums that are grand in magnitude that specialize in the same discussions as my forum. Most of these larger forums are corrupt, so it's a great source to find those looking for a better forum to thrive on.

I'd be interested to hear a little more about that. What do you mean when you say they are corrupt?

Why do you think their members are so keen to leave and join another forum?

Google gives me 10,000+ results for 'fantanoice' and 'dashing', so naming each and every place where I've advertised would be absolutely tedious. xD
