Windows Defender within Windows 10. That's all you really need if you know what you're doing.

For customers, I always provide a paid option between Emsisoft and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware. Everything else is trash that I won't touch with a 10-foot pole.

Pretty much this. I use Windows 10/Windows Defender + Malwarebytes Premium.

That being said, as long as you arent being stupid online, just use a good ad-blocker (uBlock Origin for example) and Windows 10 will usually keep itself pretty clean. If for some reason you think there might be something funny going on, download Malwarebytes free trial and that'll take care of it.

Been using Avast for awhile now. I generally have no issue with it, other than it bugging me monthly to upgrade my service to include more stuff that it can scan for.

I use Web Root. Anyway, I suspected once it wasn't as good as AVG, but the blue screen forced shut-downs were not cause of a virus (probably lack of computer updating).

As of right now I am using one that came with my new PC earlier in the year, Bullguard however when I do not use that my most preferred if usually Avast.

I prefer McAfee. I used it at my old job, it was the only antivirus we were allowed to use for ourselves and our customers. It's non-intrusive and easy to use. Gets the job done.

I used Avast and i recommend it to anyone. Now i use Linux 😛

I am using sophos on my macbook, pretty good. On my desktop I do not use antivirus. Only using it to check forums and playing videogames.

free, people tend to use free that I have seen

Free ones are crap. At least get some basic AVG or something, which you can pick up for a few bucks at Officemax, Office Depot or Walmart.
