Hosting24 or HostGator or Hawkhost? Which is the best?
Thanks.Eternal said:Moved to a more suitable forum. 🙂
You never even had one single problem with them? I read a few reviews and some people have said they did have problems.Ashley S said:I am with HostGator and used them for years not had any connection problems, support team are fast and reliable. Not tried any other hosts though.
I really appreciate the feedback.Sam said:I have tried HawkHost and I have had experience with HostGator through a reseller. Both had reasonably fast servers and had a great uptime record. HostGator is owned by EIG (seach EIG hosts) and I have heard that their customer service has become poorer since the takeover. Some of the FP members of this forum have also commented that HawkHost has become slower.
The only thing I know about Hosting24 is that they own 000webhost.
I notice you have picked two "unlimited" hosts. Just remember that you are paying extra for something you most likely do not need (and realistically doesn't exist- there are no unlimited servers). Most hosting clients use less than 1GB of diskspace.
My personal recommendation, out of those three hosts, would be HawkHost. They have good prices and realistic allocations of diskspace and bandwidth. I have also experienced HawkHost and I know they have solid servers and good support.

The only downside to HawkHost to Hosting24 is that Hosting24 throws in a free domain.
That is the ideal situation.Sam said:Artificial said:I really appreciate the feedback.

No problem. Some hosts make it hard to transfer your domain away if you want to change hosting (they hold your domain ransom). It is generally a better idea to purchase from the register direct.

The downside to purchasing a domain from a registrar is that it could mean losing out on certain features.J Greig said:Artificial said:it will cost me an additional $10.95 🙁
Purchase your domain through a registrar. I personally recommend NameCheap, but there is nothing stopping you from waiting until GoDaddy offers one of the those $1 domain sales.
I also recommend HawkHost due to personal experience. I have used Host Gator and I won't deny their services are brilliant, it's their support that lacks quality for me.
If you are looking for a good host, I've recently started using StableHost and it's probably the best one I've used by far. They have reasonable prices and have faster services in my opinion.

Can't you just unpark it and sell it?Sam said:Artificial said:The downside to purchasing a domain from a registrar is that it could mean losing out on certain features.
What features do you miss out on? Having your domain on your register will also allow you to more easily sell your site / domain in the future if necessary.
So once I park a domain, I can't unpark it?J Greig said:I might be mistaken, but I'm sure HawkHost only allow you to edit the nameservers and nothing else.
I doubt I will buy a domain from HawkHost; I don't want to pay $10-12 for a domain.J Greig said:I think you are mistaken. You can add parked domains, add-on domains and sub-domains through cPanel. I'm talking about the domain you wish to purchase through HawkHost. This is the one you can only edit nameservers with, nothing else. You can add anything else through cPanel when you get hosting.
