Well sense GeneralPalace died I want to know what I should use next...

vBulletin (Once I get my Paypal)
IP.Board (Once I get my Paypal)
Forumotion
SimpleMachines (SMF)
ZetaBoards
Other (Any other than this list)

Also please reply on this thread what your voting for also reasons why I should use it.

Also the community it has,is very very helpful.

Yes, I agree with you both SMF is good software but it doesnt convince me to use it. 😉 I still would like the opinions of other members.

vBulletin is hands down the best. That simple. Without money, myBB is.

IP.Board blows vBulletin out of the water. Seriously, don't get vBulletin, get IP.Board. Let me tell you, I have used pretty much every software out there, and IP.Board is the best. The features are great (Facebook connect, a great profile system, an amazing ACP, built-in rep system, etc.) There are great mods available. Now I will admit there aren't many great ones yet for IP.Board 3 but it's new so it's coming. Plus with the new Community Content System coming out you'll have a CMS available and if you buy IP.Blog, IP.Gallery, or IP.Downloads, that adds great functionality. Also installing modifications is a snap with the application system.

It's is completely and utterly 100% impossible to pick the best software ever, don't bother to try. Instead, see what works best for you. Not everyone can deal with the MODs for phpBB, others may like it because it allows greater access to the code. Some people love the "social media" style of IPB3, others like myself hate it and prefer the older IPB versions or other software.

Personally, MyBB is my favorite. It's quick to install, easy to MOD and runs well with resources from my tests. It suits all my needs perfectly, couldn't ask for more 🙂

MyBB is the greatest software on the planet! Quick, powerful, easy to install mods, great mods, really good support, great community forum, loads of themes and mods. Free. Also there are payed mods which are really good.

It hammers Vbulletin into the ground. Slaps IPB in the face with a wet fish, makes out with SMF's girlfriend, and just looks at the rest of the software and they cry!

That is why MyBB is the greatest software ever. 😉 Hope I helped.

Ofcourse if you want to pay for software IP Board is the best.

See my post above, it's impossible to tell the best software because it is all up to personal preference. I'm glad you enjoy using IPB, however don't claim it to be better than others simply because you think so :]

I am no longer using IPB 😛. I also said its the best PAID forum software 😛.

Personally IMO I think SMF is the best free or not free lol..

Free though, I'd have to go with phpbb3. Lots of mods easy installation unlike IPB but still not as good obviously.

If you feel like you don't have success with your forum(s) in the past I highly reccommend not getting a paid forum and see how you do with a free forum. If you are doing well with your free forum you can always transfer all your posts and members easily.

Again, it doesn't matter if you personally think it's the best paid. Both IPB and vBulletin offer many features that stack up rather well against each other, and will suit forums in completely different manners. For example, IPB3 is more "social media" with the profile walls and such, so a chat site may be better suited on the new IPB rather than vBulletin. However a hacking discussion / warez community may need several MODs that are vBulletin only (auto-submitters, link checkers, ect). It comes down to personal needs. I'm seriously thinking about creating a site that compares the feature and MODs lists and shows a few examples of each software being used :\

Well I been thinking of making another general discussion forums but I needed alot better...software than SMF it has alot of bugs/errors..

but so far im leading towards...
