Why are you sick of new promotion forums ?

I'm fine with promotion forums generally, I just don't like it when they've got the same content as every other such forum. Same with sites about being a forum admin.

I think all promotion rules should have a proper domain and not be on free forum hosts.
What do you think ?

I agree, but I also think they should stop being created.

All together ?
Yes, until enough of them die to the point where it's actually a good thing that they are being created again. There's so many of them as it is.

I think some experienced forum administrators should come together and create the ultimate promotion forum.

Or, just come together on an existing promotion forum like this one that is already doing well, and acquire a lot of the failing ones, then become the ultimate promotion forum.

This one is already considered to be the ultimate one (at least in my view), so why not make it even more powerful.

I wouldn't go as far as saying that I am tired of new promotion forums. I am, however, saying that that is once again getting to be an overly saturated genere so competition can be pretty complex. They all seem to copy off the other, and hardly anybody is unique these days anymore.

Agreed.

The only problem I find across promotion forums is they are the same members, and if you are going to do a promotion forum, atleast get a tld and find some new users from somewhere.

That pretty much sums up what I was saying... 🙂 It's all good.

I think a forum of any genre can succeed on a free host as much as it can on a paid host. It's happened before.

Not in this day and age, no. Once upon a time, yes, it was possible. Now you have to do more to be unique enough.

That's perfectly true when you put it that way. Now days you have to have more than a nice looking skin to attract members and promoters. Me, I'm not overly picky when joining a new promotion forum, but I know there are people out there who are really strict on what they'd like to see in a forum.

A forum can definitely still succeed on a free host, it just requires the forum to have something really special or be about a topic that no other site is covering. Of course, that kind of shoots down the idea of a success free hosted promotion forum, but the chances of one of those types of sites catching on nowadays is already extremely low as is.

Also, if you need another reason to be sick of new promotion forums, it's how quickly many shut down. After all, aren't the backlinks and traffic the reason most admins join them? It's not very good for your SEO or marketing efforts if you make a whole bunch of quality posts then return to find the forum has vanished for good.

I'm building a new promotion site, and I can guarantee I'll maintain it for a very long time. I'm dedicated to my forum.

Yeah, but really, in most cases, if you're going to do a promotion forum, unless you're lucky that a free host has these features already, you're better off on advanced hosting from the get-go because by dealing with a Cpanel and ACP on your own, YOU can add the mods/features necessary for a decent promo forum (like a forum currency mod for instance) and at least you won't hear remarks like "We can't add this mod because it won't benefit all forums hosted with us". Advanced hosting you can add all the mods you need and then some. Especially if you're offering services that people need to pay for. The only way this could work out on a free host is if you have members pay for services with actual money, like through PayPal and whatever.

That is seriously an overused excuse, because people say that all the time and it only shuts down months later. I might consider joining up when it's ready. The more places a person promotes at, the more exposure he'll get.

I've already made a mistake by doing what you said once in another forum, but I won't make that mistake again. I mean.. people do learn from their mistakes, don't they?

I'm building a promotion forum as we speak.
I have found this topic very interesting indeed.
I'm really glad I've read through it actually. 😀
Yes, there are a lot of promotion forums!
But there are also a lot of hosting companies.
That doesn't stop people creating hosting companies.
So why should it stop you creating promotion forums?
What you have to do is be different in your own way.
Hosting companies are always pretty much the same.
But they all differ in one way or another.
Some offer better support than others.
Some better pricing than others, etc. etc.
With promotion forums you can't be unique.
It's a promotion forum! That's all there is to say.
BUT...you can target things a little differently.
Perhaps offer additional services, better value services, etc.
Or possibly even offer additional support for new forum owners.
People get bored of hosting companies too. It's hard to choose.
There are so many companies offering the same thing.
Some less reliable than others, which makes it harder!
Promotion forums are a popular, helpful resource.
BUT...give it your own unique touch...that's all. 😀

I've been known to do this as well, so I don't even know why I said that. I think part of me was just pissed with the overall idea of people playing the open shut game with their sites and whatever: Closing out of sheer laziness, closing when they don't get the desired amount of activity, whatever. So I honestly don't know what made me say that as I used to be just as bad, and I apologize for it.
