Why?!

I have used it for a year now and has protected me from all viruses I encountered. It may start random scans but thats it.

And please don't say "Because it sucks" thank you

I don't think Norton Antivirus is bad, although when I had Norton Antivirus 2006 installed on my old computer, it added an extra three minutes to the system's loading time after start-up.

Norton is commonly used by the virus makers as the one to get passed.

It slows down your computer.

Very annoying when trying to port forward...

As already said it doesn't protect aswell as people think.

I know this because I tried kaspersky on my moms computer whiched used norton and 20 trojans and some spyware was found.

Uninstall it using the Norton Removal tool. Restart your pc then run the tool again and restart again and reinstall it again.

I use Norton and I noticed it did slow down after a while... Especially after i updated to NIS 2010 but after doing the above it did speed it up massively.

I used to use Mcafee but it was very slow and alot slower then NIS 2010. I don't have many issues with viruses as i am cautious with what sites i visit so i have it just as peace of mind and my parents have a 3 pc license so i might as well use it as it is free. It has been years since i had a virus and that had nothing to do with me. As i am the only one that uses my laptop apart from my brother occasionally to go on ebay i know that i am probably not going to have any issues.

I used to use NIS 2005 or something previously which i did find to be very very slow and a pain to have which is why i stopped using Norton but after seeing NIS 2009 on my parents laptop and the speed of it, i thought i may aswell have it. NIS 2010 does seem to be faster then 2009 but the upgrade i found actually made it slower until i reinstalled it.

Hmm, I use Norton. 😛

It does slow my computer down a bit, though.

Any antivirus software will slow it down. Everything you install on your computer will slow it down in one way or another. It is really to what extent it slows down. Some slow it down slightly while some make it grind to a halt. Mcafee used to cause my laptop to take an extra 5-10 seconds to start up compared to NIS 2010. My laptop also used to grind to a halt for 10-15 seconds when Mcafee did an update. Norton i don't even notice when it does an update.

Well I mean, antivirus for me isnt that bad. My computer also has less than minimum RAM for windows..

Norton works perfect for me and I will tell you why

I have Norton 2003 edition updated with the newest definitions (updates) and because its a 2003 one, so I have all the old definitions that are still out there (Viruses that are old but still out there).

Thanks!

I have used Norton Security Services before and I myself can say that the NIS 2010 Edition is very good.
Previous versions have all been horrible.
I'm currently using TIS2010

I've used Norton as well as AVG and McAfee, not really noticed any issues Norton related.

You have to be stupidly on-the-ball with updates if you're using Norton, though. People who make viruses consider getting around Norton a top priority over every other antivirus software. Also, if you use overly outdated antivirus software in general (or no AV software, which is basically the same thing), and you do get a virus, some of them will parade around your comp as Norton Update requests, which can be a bad first impression.

Nort is a lower grade Anti-virus.

It is basically a small net that is meant to catch big fish.

Compared to other anti-viruses that you can get for free, Nort comes up short in features.

Avast's free anti-virus has a number of features that can better protect you.

I could go on and on all day, but to cut it short: Nort is more about money and a simple user face- There is little protection.

Avast, Avg or even Avira has a wider scan range and features... But they are also more refined to seasoned users.

I used norton 2000 before, and it works pretty well, but my subscription ran out, so I'm using Avast.

I just use the Microsoft Security Essentials xD

I have used Norton before, and it's a RAM hog.
