Why is XenForo a good software?

And I will not argue with an XF fanatic.
So, what's the point of this thread then? Also, fanatic? You don't know me then..
I give my honest reviews on my experience with 'em.

There is IPB and VB marc. 😉
So, this makes xenForo rubbish then?

No. Mostly my reason as to hating XF is the fact there are barely no modifications available for the software. No gallery, no blog system. Nothing like that. Both IPB and VB offer those two things.

But, you say their code is rubbish in your first post.. I'm asking for a reason why...
PS. There is a blog and gallery add-on.

Mind linking? Maybe if they offer both of that then I might change my mind about not liking XenForo.

I'm trying out a demo right now and it seems really nice, not sure about the admin panel though.

I like XF, i have a license although my friend is using it at the moment. It's very nice and loads fast. 🙂 I will say it's not as developed as say IPB but it's getting there 🙂 Kier and Mike did a very nice job.

Personally I have never used this software although I have researched it and everything seems really nice my only problem is I hear its bad on server load.

Once a MyBB developer told, Xenforo is designed to handle really big boards. I don't think its bad on server.

And xenforo is the most modern Forum software available. Do note, i'm a MyBB fan and wouldn't use any other Script, unless MyBB quit development. So there is no reason i should support Xenforo.
But when i compare VB, IPB and Xenforo, i would go with Xenforo. Since its development started lately, most of their code and features are of modern standards. Whereas you can't just change the features of VB and IPB, as they were started long ago, and they don't just re-write everything to adopt it to newer standards.

Also, Xenforo has new structure, whereas i can't differentiate the design structure of VB and IPB from other free scripts like MyBB. I can easily tweak MyBB theme to look like VB or IPB, whereas to develop a Xenforo like MyBB theme would be really hard.

Too many posts are just praising xenforo without any supporting details. Because what i have read has not convinced me either.

XenForo may not have as much plugins, features, addons(blog, cms etc.) as other softwares out there because it is relatively new. That does not mean they won't plan for adding more core things like a blogging system, as I saw a post regarding adding one a while back. I like XenForo but it does lack things, however you can say you dislike it because it lacks things you want specifically. If it was MyBB, IPB, or VB here you would say the exact same thing because it is new and lacks features, there are many developers willing to make addons for you if you ask. Overtime there will be more added im sure, so for now you have to wait.

Perhaps you haven't read my reply.

Yes kavin you provided a bit of reason and I like to see that, good job!

But that doesn't convince me either.

Well, I may not be able to convince you to go to XenForo and honestly I'd say you need to feel each and every forum software to see what fits you. I've used IPB, vBulletin, XenForo, MyBB, PHPBB, and SMF.

For XenForo:
- Lightweight
- Easy on the eyes styling
- Admin CP is decent
- Built in option to connect with Facebook (though you can do this now with pretty much any forum software)

Against XenForo:
- No infraction system
- Alert system seemed a bit funny at first
- Can't search all the posts of a user and delete them, you have to go one by one to delete.

Despite my original desire to get another Vbulletin license, I ended up with XenForo after one of my friends had it on his forum and he showed me how it was and I ended up liking it after a demo.

Yes you can.
And there's the spam cleaner tool.

Where did you get your xenForo license again?
And what version of xenForo do you use?

That's not what this topic is about.

So how many mods are there? Because i honestly have no idea, I just don't see much chatter about that.

Thats the bad thing. I like the design and all the options of it but when it comes to mods then it is very limited. It is lots of great ones but there are some specific ones you just need that are not there. But in for VB, there are thousands of mods for your every need.

When VB started, i don't think they had as much mods as Xenforo has. Its quite new, and having few hundreds of mods (as ShadyX pointed out) is good.

Yes I am fully confident that in time xenforo will have just as many mods as all the other softwares, make literally anything possible. But since it is so new it is hard to find what you need. After looking through the list I found nothing useful, then again i'm not sure what i would need.

You can't honestly expect every new forum software to have developers, both third party and the softwares, to make hundreds of mods so people can have one for everything. It takes time, and everything isn't perfect.

Personally, a few hundred is pretty damn good for a fairly new forum software and every year hundreds more will be added and in no time you will have an abundant selection to choose from.
