Worst Thing About XenForo?

Only one rule of thumb when looking for an add-on: if there is a copyright displayed and you have to pay to remove it then I go my way.

What are the worst features and things about the XenForo software?
That everything looks so tiny and cramped. Even the majority of skins/styles/themes from third parties are usually designed with the smallest font-sizes and design elements possible.

So it don’t look like this,

I’ve seen much worse than this too.
It’s terrible I’ve had to manually edit it so it looks neater and people can tell I’m using Xenforo if they’ve been to other forums so the branding is at to expensive to remove m.

Besides that it’s a decent software with a few issues.

I've used XenoForo before as a member of someone else's forum but I've never had a forum of my own through them.

The stupid fees to remove the addon copyright notices. I'm happy to pay for that but when it costs the same or double the addon price, it's just a joke really.
I didn't even know that was a thing. Wow. If they really want to credit addon devs then just add it to a credits page or something.

Each addon developer has the choice to add a copyright or not. They can also charge any amount they desire. Me personally, I do not add copyrights to any of my addons, I think they make the footer look like junk.

I don't like how nearly all XenForo sites look exactly the same.

If you look at the header, you can see from the layout / links etc etc that it's XenForo. Other forums often tend to have really unique designs but XenForo forums tend to look the same and unoriginal.

I visit many different XenForo sites myself, many of them use different styles which make them different from the standard look however the software used is easy to spot.

Can't complain about any features it has.

I was a little disappointed with some decisions they made from xenForo 1 to xenForo 2, such as the removal of auto dropdown for navigation menus, but that can be solved by some customizations.

I just think they should consider making a native app.

I actually kind of like this, although you can highly customize a forum running XenForo, you can easily tell them apart from other software. I think it's a benefit since visitors who might not be familiar with forums can easily navigate between between most sites running XF without having to learn where everything is located

Honestly I hated the ACP more than anything. Layout was really bad and the whole thing was worse than phpbb.

I think Xenforo is the best basic forum platform going but there's a lot that I don't like about it which is why I no longer use it on the forums I own.

What sets forums apart from other social platforms is the wealth of rich content stored in the database. That content needs to be easily accessible and positively promoted instead of lying redundant in the depths of a forum. In short there needs to be better search options and data matching to suit member preferences to bring that content to the front. Images also need to be searchable, be it by member or otherwise.

The current state of technology dictates it's insane that potential members still have to jump though hoops with unanswerable questions, indecipherable CAPTCHAs and lost emails etc just to register. Biometrics and a single click account creation should have been here long ago along with push notification. There also needs to be a properly slimmed down version for smart devices. 99% of posts use only 1% of functionality regardless of device.

These are the main two areas where Xenforo and the majority of other forum software needs to improve upon in my opinion.

Having used XF in the past and then coming back years later to the new redesigned ACP, I hated it. It took a while to get used to it but it's not so bad. I definitely think it can be improved.

Also hate that there is no pre-installed dark theme in the ACP, luckily I found an addon on their website for that

It's not easy to navigate and find things. I struggled a lot to get the hang of it, after using Mybb

I guess the add-on branding. The one add-on that did have branding had a very easy legal way to get rid of it (The developer had the instructions on how to get rid of it).

I absolutely hate setting the permissions up. I have forever loved the ease of setting up permissions on IPB forums.

I wouldn't say "hate," but yeah, agreed here.

The one thing that nobody seems to pay attention to is the ranking system. The way the groups are set up - and I'm not talking about the account upgrades - I'm talking about when a user posts "x" amount of posts, the core xenforo code doesn't really upgrade the user.

I have a ranking system in CoDForums, but it doesn't actually work. Sigh.

That's the worst thing about xenForo.
