Microsoft just announced their next generation console: Xbox One.

Keeping the fanboy comments about Microsoft is stupid and Playstation is amazing and vice versa, what are your thoughts on this?

My personal thoughts. I am a bit disappointed that they think that we actually want to "simplify" our living room experience by using their new system. Personally, mine is already simple enough. However, I was impressed by the new graphic potential. I am interested to see what future holds here. 😉

Great Now I cant have 2 or more battery packs and switch between them when their low...

Also I wonder whats happened to the 'one use' games?.

Looks promising. I was following the live announcement today and was seconds away from registering xboxone.net. I am quite sad actually, that would have been a few thousand easy dollars in no time had I been a minute or two quicker, it was available when I made the search but was registered as I got to the checkout. 🙁
 
It kind of look like those horizontal Desktop computers without the keyboard. The specs AMD, 8GB of RAM, Blu-ray, USB 3.0, HDMI in/out, and a 500GB hard drive also sound a lot like a starter $600-700 self-built Gaming desktop computer as well, but without a keyboard and mouse.

I didn't see this post when I replied earlier. They do need it. They'll just go through their lawyers to get it a little closer to the launch. They pay their lawyers millions for this type of thing and Microsoft can have any xbox-related domain they want in a matter of hours, I would think.

Quite correct. Imagine a large corporation telling you that what you're doing is illegal, and that they are willing to take you to court. Pretty scary, domain squatting can earn you a bit of cash, but not enough to risk in situations like this imo.
 
Domain squatting, while perhaps not illegal per say, is most definitely against most domain registrars ToS. So all microsoft would have to do is provide proof of ownership of Xbox One name and anyone squatting on xboxone.<tld> would likely have their domains confiscated and sold to microsoft. (Plus you'd also likely be banned from that registrar too.)


As for how I feel on Xbox One... I like the tech specs and I think they could make a lot of amazing games with the level of power in the new xbox. But I'll still pass on this system for other reasons... Ones like:

Their policy on used games (which currently seems like: buy used if you want, but you have to pay microsoft on top of the used game cost if you actually want to play) and locking games to accounts seems like a deliberate slap to used game industry and an attempt to gouge people for buying second hand.

And the new xbox may not be always online... but you can't really leave it offline either since apparently after 24 hours it locks even offline/single player games out if the system hasn't connected home.
 
am i the only one who likes the idea of using the kinect system with the tv bit

Who's getting the new Xbox One?

Is anyone else excited about the Xbox One that was announced yesterday? 😀

I have a new community i've set up for it!
 
I think there are some great pluses and minuses about it. I will still get one when it comes out.
 
Right now I'm undecided but I'm leaning more towards being unimpressed, especially about the 'fee' required to play used games. When I heard 'fee' I was thinking maybe a few bucks but if it's the full retail price of the game that really sucks >< My family always swaps game so this is a real bummer.
 
I think I read some where kik that the PS4 is going to have the fee as well or do away with used games all together.
