Yahoo Answers

Yahoo Answers is what is stopping my site from getting active, as every one just use Yahoo Answers!

Not rely, I think it's a good site and I end up using it some times.

I really had bad experiences, I never got my questions answered

The only answers most people get are "Google It" or something wise-ass like that. Even a lmgtfy is more productive, it googles it for you.

I can't speak for him, but I get an average of 20 hits from there a day. I think my high was about 45. Not many people join, but I get the traffic.

i usually type my quesitons into google and yahoo answers usually has the answer and come up in the search 🙂

I use it for homework, if I can't find it in the book. It's very helpful. 😀

Sounds like my experience of Twitter. It drives traffic but the visitors don't register or post.

Excellent! What does that say about Yahoo search! I wonder will we see a Google Answers?

Occasionally, there are some answers that I can make sense of, and if I'm really lucky then they can turn out to be quite useful. But from my experiences, most of the answers posted on Yahoo Answers are garbage. Some of the questions are as well.

I don't use it, but know some people who use it to promote their sites. Some even users even provide a service whereby they will answer questions with a link to your site, in return for a fee.

Has it helped you to promote your forum?

We get quite a few members from yahoo answers who are looking for malware/virus removal help. Not just from questions that I have directly answered but also from my answers showing up in searches.

They used to have one but retired it in 2006 for some reason.

You are certain to find the answer to your question(s) on yahoo answer. Also, this shows you ain't the only one asking the same questions. Because I always think I'm the only one asking a certain questions. 😛

Thanks grumpygit, that's news to me. Maybe it required too much staff time to moderate it.

I'm a level 7 on Yahoo answers, i've been on it for 2 years and I have the top contributor badge in the Yahoo answers section and one of the gaming sections. It's an awesome site! The only bad thing is that I heard they're really strict with suspensions. I've been suspended twice for 'chatting' too much, I got it back though after multiple appeals. And suspension is permanent by the way unless you're appeal is successful. Other than that it's a great site and I am addicted to it. 😀
