Your first forum?

Mine was a Pokemon rom hacking community that was hosted on Forumotion. This was about two years before I joined Forum Promotion so that had to be 2010. I only had 9 members on it, and most of those people I knew in real life. :V

My first forum started life on vBulletin (1) in 2000. It was primarily a gaming forum based on a modification of Counter-Strike which in turn was a modification of Half-life. Over time it also focused on other multiplayer games including Call of Duty and World of Warcraft.

I shut it down a few years ago but I still have the database which is nearly 2GB in size so I guess it must had a fair few posts but I don't really recall how many. Interest in it started to wane when games companies stopped allowing community run servers so it seemed pointless to keep it going.

an ipb nulled board mounted in a 512 MB allowed hosting. It was glorious while it lasted haha.

My first forum was on Forumotion and it was a forum based on a specific book series that I was reading at the time. It was the one I had when I first joined FP, if I'm not mistaken.

A Club Penguin fan forum hosted with Forumotion. I believe it was when I was around 8 or 9 so that made sense I guess lol

Hosted with forum promotion? How'd that work? like a subforum kinda deal?

I think when I took over my site it was still using the IPBfree software, and then I went over to jcink because it wasn't stuck to a token system like IPBfree was. Glad I did considering what happened to that software.

Wow this would take me back to way before Facebook around 2004 to 2011, i built and ran a dance music forum back then we started on IPB 1.2/1.3 back when it was free and invisionize was around later moved to vbulletin

we had around 8-9k regular members and was an all time fantastic community, then when facebook was born we did loose momentum and eventually the costs of running became too expensive to run back then was not on cloud services and ran on dedicated servers causing prices to be very expensive compared to todays costs for hosting servers/clouds etc.

if i had the job i have now back then it probably would still be running now. it was very good time that i miss to this day.

I don't really remember because that was ages ago. But if I would guess, it probably was some gaming clan forum based on a free forum script/service.

If anyone wants my first site it was called DSiRage, hosted on forumotion as mentioned before!

Only kids used it

The first forum I made was a discussion board for my multi-author blogging site. The forum was made on WordPress by using Asgaros forum plugin. The forum was not open to general public for posting, it could be used only by the bloggers blogging on my site. MY second forum was also exclusive to the blogging site.

How did that work out for you (regarding your first forum)?

I did not have a lot of members (as it was not open to the public), but I did have good participation from the bloggers blogging on the site. When I sold the site, the new owner decided to discontinue the forum.
