I found a way to view the old subscription page by visiting
http://www.youtube.com/home instead of YouTube.com while logged in.
Now, the new layout is not as big of a problem for me.
Thanks for posting about that. I'm glad to see the old page still works.
I abhor the new layout. If nothing else for the reason that none of the links actually work. (I'm using the latest version of Opera and: all the subscription links on the left to filter the content do nothing, the checkbox to show video content only doesn't work, the little x to remove suggested subscriptions/channels doesn't work.)
I also despise the prominence of the facebook and google+ bits in the subscription section. I don't like having to scroll down to see all the recommended videos one at a time. Let alone the fact that I can't click x to get rid of videos I don't like or already watched like I could on the old layout.
And of course the layout in the middle is messy beyond comprehension... it shows everything as it occurs with no way to ignore or remove parts of it so it results in this massive list of junk which most of it I could care less about. (I don't care someone favourited a video or they "liked" one. )
So basically this new layout is broken, ugly and uncalled for. Way to go Team Youtube. /Sarcasm.
I think they should make an option so users could permanently switch back to the old layout. It wouldn't be that hard for them to do and it'd appeal to so many people. I've heard that Youtube is getting a ton of negative feedback about this new layout. (And from all the replies I've personally seen, they've all been negative. Lots of people asking for them to either revert the layout or give people the option to revert.) Seems like very few actually like it.
